@ScriptCoded they are paying for it but I’m worried that if I fail to clear it in one attempt I’ll waste the voucher and they won’t pay again
-
Can you take restroom breaks?
-
Langchain?
-
I smoke up if the work isn’t that cognitively demanding (just updating some config files etc). If writing an entire new feature (changing APIs and writing queries) with a deadline in mind, I have to be sober and clear-headed.

@IntrusionCM Thank you for concern about my health. But for another viewpoint, Cannabis is a stimulant, depressant, and a hallucinogen all in one. It can benefit your life exponentially (especially as a programmer) from introspection and self correction to creativity, rational thinking, morals and viewpoints on life. It is an incredible tool and truly a gift to have something like it available. It is a matter of self control.
If nature is illegal then freedom does not exist. -
@Voxera Ohh cmon I’m tryna feel less guilty ;)
-
@onigiri No but I did do some socialist and anarchist stuff

Python?

Once you get the message, hang up the phone

It’s always hilarious when a PM or any non-technical person tries to BS their way through something they clearly don’t understand. Like just say “I don’t know”. It’s not that hard. And techies will actually respect that.

They are just a wishlist. Apply anyways. And keep in mind that a job is not a fair exchange between you and your employer.

Congrats 🎈🎊

@bioDan My old organization had a CTO or “VP of Technology” but it was a big corporation with a rigid hierarchy so I never interacted with him. My current organization is a smaller company so we don’t have one (we don’t even have a technical lead— just some senior developers who guide us on how things are to be done).
The point I am trying to make is “managers” and “management” completely insulate themselves from any performance related accountability (because they are “managers”). Moreover, they completely disregard or downright ignore structural issues (such as lack of manpower/resources, ambiguous requirements, lack of technical support/guidance etc). -
I haven’t met a single manager who has had any kind of development experience before.
-
This is next level lol
-
Why is this happening?
-
@black-kite apparently they do— boot licking their seniors. It’s we who are not supposed to have lives
-
Was trying to get a React Native app running but the node, npm, babel stuff kept breaking every time I upgrade or downgrade something
-
@C0D4 yes you do as you have to set the Android SDKs path to connect your react native app to the emulator (assuming that’s what you’re trying to do)
-
@netikras lol I don’t know that much, but I’ve heard that even the Android Studio IDE is pretty heavy as it causes the PC/laptop to freeze often so I thought that must the the root cause
-
@netikras not IDE, just Emulator. I needed it because the official Android Studio Emulator kept freezing/crashing my laptop
-
Where is this?
-
@hjk101 Given what I’ve been through at that workplace, they’d be glad that I didn’t hire some hitman to finish them off lol.
-
Do you have an offer in hand? If yes then they can go fuck themselves.
-
@Devnergy yeah they’re giving me a raise. I have realized that big corporations are not for me— too much hierarchy and bureaucracy. You generally get to learn more at smaller firms. Also, me having socialist/leftist inclinations works well with the direction I am headed.

@atheist Python

Great!

@PonySlaystation joining another smaller company

@BENLMSC It is 2015 model

@electrineer yeah actually it’s 5 years old.
