@commanderkeen yeah, you're probably right about my attitude. I have to improve myself
But c'mon, I've asked a question and the answer was to bother with performance.
Regarding the why I don't generate it on my pc, it's a recurring weekly event and I don't want to waste my time with this. -
Okay, but I was asking some for some advices. And the answer for that is why do you care about the performance?
And I get that premature optimisation is not good. But I was wondering that some people made similar tasks and they have some experience.
I just wanted some advices like: use X, it's not that fast but it's easy to implement, don't use Y it's fast but it's a pain in the ass to implement.
But hey, as it turns out nowadays you can't even ask for advice from other people, just copy-paste code and let the pdf generation kill the server once a month :)
ps: it would be okay for you if once a month Netflix would go down for 2-3 hours while they are generating the invoices for the subscription? -
@commanderkeen sorry, I forgot to add context https://stackoverflow.com/questions...
In my opinion this kind of task doesn't fall into the premature optimization category, but correct me if I'm wrong -
A golden one with similar situations: https://youtu.be/N38a5ja26xY

@justmove yeah, but try to migrate a shitty PrestaShop site, full with addons to a custom made site
-
@mzeffect Yes, vim can be a powerful editor, but to use it non-stop for big projects...
-
@mzeffect it's not my blog and I didn't wrote the article, I just agree with it and I'm not related in any way to that blog
-
For those who only use vim:
If, on the other hand, you’re well aware of IDEs but still decided to stick to Vim, I don’t even know what to tell you. You’re like a kid that hasn’t hit puberty yet. There’s just no point for me to argue with you. You think you know what it’s like to be an adult, but you have no idea. Because of the strong language I use on this blog, it’s not allowed for kids. Get the fuck out of here.

@calmyourtities you can do that with android. My secondary phone is a nexus 4 (~100$) with the latest stock android
-
@DLMousey check out this https://youtu.be/DzRGBAUz5mA I think that they hate it too but unfortunately this is trending so they have to adjust

@alanbal888 more context, about 30 lines above: https://imgur.com/a/PFA2F,

IMHO if you strive to improve yourself and your code and you keep up with the new technologies you are a supremely talented developer.
-
As a European developer, I wish you guys happy Diwali.
And don't get me wrong, but I Google-ed Diwali and I learned something new, so while you guys are celebrating, I learned something new about a different culture than mine. Win-win -
@CarpeDemon Sorry, I was a bit frustrated with some workplace shit at the time of writing your reply.
And yeah I agree, PHP can be very frustrating and a shitty language. And this is by design, because it was never intended to do more than render some blog. But it's evolving, which is a nice thing.
To be honest I also hate this language sometimes :).
And sorry because I was rude or something, but I can't stand comparisons like Windows vs Linux or Php vs Java etc. Because most of the time it's useless. You have to use the right tool for the right job. For example I don't really like linux os-es (for so many reasons) but I have to admit that it's super useful for my daily job.
So, have a good day guys :) -
Haters gonna hate.
You can write shitty code in every language. I can show you thousands of github repos with spaghetti c/c++/c#/java code.
I just fucking hate these childish rants where someone blames one language because he doesn't really understands the language/ecosystem or saw some spaghetti code. It reminds me of the "Apple vs Android" or "Windows vs Linux" stuff. -
@bahua I can assure you that they are not hardcoded, they accept certificates trusted in the os certificate store (or similar in different os-es)
-
Oh shit, I hate Matlab from.the university Soo much. Literally I had to Google for every fucking thing and the best part is that I've never had any idea what I was doing.
Ohh and the naming convention, ohh
... Never mind it's just a big piece of shit -
@kenpeter wow, there is no coincidence.
My next task is to set up webpack for our custom cms
Thanks! -
@crisz in theory every PrestaShop code and module is following the PSR standards, but reality is the exact opposite
-
@eorono Nodejs has nothing to do with jQuery
-
@Ashkin not just the theme. The whole experience with other apps. Let's not lie to ourselves and acknowledge it: the user interface of the most linux app (or it's alternative) is shitty, compared to Windows.
On the other hand, the unlimited configuration option, package manager, shell is super awesome. -
Beside the fact that I love Ubuntu and I'm using it as my main os, I have to say that the Windows UI is more mature and especially the Win 10 UI is more sexier

I have a simple WordPress clone, but with Yii2 framework.
Doesn't have all the features from WordPress, only those I use for my clients. -
@paulwillyjean It's about their code sniffer...
-
@jckimble I don't like to waste more time on these kind of clients. I simple block them on mail and phone.
-
Read the "Saying no" chapter from the excellent Clean Coder book, this will give you good examples how to say no in these situations.
-
Cheers!
I just started to read the next book from this series -
This app is amazing

the Samsung's bloated android is bad. Try Cyanogenmod
