Just realized. The only use of port 80 (providing it runs something like NginX/Apache) is (or, should be anyways) redirecting users from a non-secure connection to a secure one.
Poor port 80 😖47 -
Hello guys. So after I posted the rant about me blocking Google and Facebook through my hosts file, some people commented with the idea of creating a gitlab page with more privacy tips etc.
Well, that is turning into a project (actual website) that I initially started alone but @ewpratten joined the 'team' as frontender!
He'll be doing the front end and I'll be doing the backend :).
I think this will be my first ever (active) collab so I'm pretty excited =D.60 -
I average 2000 emails in my inbox a month. Mostly things telling me they are ok, I now know when to expect emails and worry if the are delayed.

University switched to Office 365. Just realized they implemented "Focused" inbox mode that auto filters messages microsoft deems less important. It filtered 3 important emails from last week. Just give us back the ability to make our own rules and filters again!!2

WOOH!!!!! AFTER 3-4MONTHS, I HAVE REGAINED **INBOX ZERO**
...AND A WHOLE LOT OF TIME!
though my reading list is still just as large, but now I don't know what I've missed.... unless I really want to.... and therefore no longer have the desire to read everything 😀
Probably also need to add a time decay and weighting algorithm... just like devRant's 😉5 -
I think I just came up with my next app idea while writing a blog post:
--Sometimes Ignorance Can Really Be Bliss?--
I like to be in know so I read a lot. My reading list will never end as there’s always more I can know.
Part of the problem is lack of clear priorities but all these articles and books are just so interesting….
I probably spend 4-5 hours every weekend reading… mostly from my Inbox. Yes I try to clear some daily but again, I keep a lot just because they look interesting.
I also use Boxbe and recently setup some Automatic Cleanup… but sort of hurts when I see an email I want to read but then it’s gone tomorrow…
**An App Idea!**
What if I never see these actual emails. But my computer does?
What if I can use it to generate a list of articles from all my emails and just show a few in a Weekly Digest?
Thoughts? anyone else have this problem?
But the key is still, never actually knowing what you missed!8 -
Dear people of Subway, just because i am using cmd, it doesnt mean i am
"Hacking your wifi network" and asking me to stop is rather unneccessary25 -
I have come to the conclusion that certain people have a tech aura that can fix or break things just by being near them. Apparently I can do both. Have you had a similar experience?
The other day a colleague was trying to play a YouTube video for the class (I work in a primary school) and the page refused to load. After 20m of failed page refreshes they called me. I walked in, sat next to the computer, and before I even touched anything YouTube suddenly appeared on the screen like it was trolling us the whole time. Much to the amazement of the class of kids who bow think I am some kind of tech-witch.
On the flipside - Linux hates me. It always has. Some years ago I decided to force myself upon Linux so I got a friend to install a dual boot on my machine. Knowing the effect I seem to have on Linux he demanded I stay out of the room until he was done. Two hours later and some stability testing later he called me back in to introduce me to my new setup. The moment I walked into the room Linux kernel panicked and never booted again.
If only I could learn to control this mystical power over technological life and death!13 -
Someone just asked me to create a huge web application for them for free. Their logic is I can practice Java lol.3

Me and my girlfriend are arguing, because I'm programming a lot and I don't have time to give her attention. She said if I don't give her attention, she will break up with me.
Any suggestion where I can find a good tutorial for C#?37 -
Not me, but a colleague of mine ordered 10,000 pens with <company>.com printed on them - but our company had a .org address.14
