So turn off notifications when you work? And do you then just do updates instead of working? I advise you to update only when you have time and do it once a week or something like that.

Create a medium sized pet project (not a hello world, but some backend, frontend, api, database) or use an existing on and automate the crap out of it.
Get one or multiple old computers or a raspberry pi or buy a VPS to use as a server. Host some infrastructure (Gitlab, Artifactory, Kubernetes, ...). Automate that deployment. Go and recreate your whole infr with those scripts you made.
Create a CI/CD pipeline, that builds, tests and deploys your app to your infrastructure. Simulate some real world scenarious, database migrations, translation services, automatic dependency updates, the whole nine yards. Make sure everything is reproducible and versioned.
Deploy Monitoring and Alerting Solutions and simulate Application Failures. Play around with Chaos Engineering.
Im doing DevOps just as a hobby, but I would say playing around with real software stacks like that will make you well versed, when applying to a DevOps position. -
That was beautiful. I need this on my wall.
-
Thats KISS for you

I'm just thinking about the environmental impact if caching would be disabled by default.

Checkout this, it's open source.

If you work with containers, a docker registry might suffice, in which case I would recommend gitlab. It has one integrated, along with CI/CD functionalities. -
I know exactly what you mean. But from my experience, being able to solve these issues boils down experience. They most likely had to fix similar issues in the past.
-
@magicMirror Good point. It's not a new iso though. And rufus got it working l. I'll have to look into that later.
-
@Jilano It's Hirens Boot Cd version 9
@Aldar @FrodoSwaggins I'll try that thanks.
@torbuntu Didn't need to but tried anyways. -
@sabrinaa I think lucid dreaming just means being able to control your own dreams
-
I know people who do stuff like that. It's a bad trait to have.
-
What have I missed?
-
I use manjaro and didn't have any real problems untill now. Depends on what you consider a problem. Learned a lot when switching from windows. If you have more time Arch might be the better choice as I don't have an opinion on fedora
-
Wow screw that
-
@kleopi No don't be that guy please. @deviloper
-
@kescherRant Definetly not, i just confirmed by plugging in power booting up the manjaro usb and unplugging. Battery is at 78%. Now I can reboot without problem. It's fine if you don't believe me though.
-
@kescherRant Yes....probably, when ten minutes ago it was fully charged. Maybe windows hibernation or stm could be the culprit.
-
Thanks for sharing! Watching 2018 right now... Really thought provoking, but funny nonetheless.
-
Vim mostly, vscode sometimes
-
Go to a conference!
-
I use keepassXC in Linux as it's open source and well tested. I have the database in my nextcloud so it's available on all my devices. Also I use a keyfile or smth in addition to my master password...
I couldn't live without it -
Depends if you need to pay developers then that's not that much. If your'e solo, it's easy money
-
Don't forget Popo - Plain old php object
-
If possible, vim. Sometimes vscode for showcasing to others.
For work intellij. -
"Object orientation"
-
I don't have ADHD but still my memory sucks ass. I always note everything in my Nextcloud. But not sure if I would recommend that. If you write it down, you tell your brain to forget it, because youv'e written it down. Maybe it's just best to practise practise practise
-
For coding books i tend to read out loud for better understanding, which means I'm a pretty slow reader as well.
But reading fast only makes sense for non complicated books. Good luck trying to blast through a programming book or silmarillion or smth that fast... -
You could always argue that this was just a prototype and would therefore not be handed over to anyone.
-
Sounds promising xD
-
@theuser But.... doesn't uncle bob have children as well?
It's probably more of the ratio of time you spend on things per day. 2hrs a day might fit well for most people, but not for all.
