    Don't say the words.
    Don't focus on each word.
    Read groups of words at once.
    Move your eyes quickly across the page. You can read much much much faster than you expect -- as long as you're not trying too hard.

    Skim!
    Fly through the words!

    Takes a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, you can read 10-40 times faster.

    @Root

    I tried it many times. If i read 2 words at same time my brain refuses to register them. Its like.. They are decoded into meaningfull words, but than that output goes straight to /dev/null

    I have no idea how to combat it :c

    @Root i used to be able to say each word and still read fast asf. Read an 800 or 900 page book in like 5 days back when I was in middle school.

    Now it takes me 30 minutes to get through a 5 page paper 🙃

    @irene

    At some point i have treshold i cant break, and if I do my understanding of text drops to 0. To point where I dont even get the context

    @irene I used to read a lot as a teenager, now I barely do any reading if it's not work related. But I definitely used to read much faster back then, I'd rip through thick fantasy novels like they were nothing! So yea, the more you read, the faster you get

    For coding books i tend to read out loud for better understanding, which means I'm a pretty slow reader as well.

    But reading fast only makes sense for non complicated books. Good luck trying to blast through a programming book or silmarillion or smth that fast...

    @Ederbit I have no difficulty with technical books, but there's something about Tolkien that makes me read very slowly. Probably because I savor the detailed descriptions and delicious worldbuilding so much.

    @Root

    I remember from my school days, we had lecture "Nad Niemnem"

    That was.. Fucking terrible.

    Few pages long of saying "well, thats fucking good looking field"

    That shit should be illegal and considered crime against humanity

    @DubbaThony 😅

    I couldn't get through Moby Dick for the same reason. He often devotes ten pages or more to a single description by going off on a tangent. He spends an entire chapter just describing the color of the whale. I couldn't take it.
