I find it tacky and ultimately pointless and divisive. If I find out someone makes more than me I'll get jealous and if they find out I make more than them they get jealous.
Don't like your pay? Negotiate for more or look elsewhere that will pay more.
If your entire organization has somehow managed to be underpaid, then I question how that would be possible with a group of adults.
If you're underpaid and replaceable, sorry but that might be why you're not seen worth being paid more. If you're underpaid and a critical part of the operation, use that to your leverage if you want more.
Find your spine and advocate for yourself. -
yeah so I had an employer advocate it causes jealousy
um so turns out I made this company software that ended up over half their revenue.. 3 million a year. I was paid 36k a year. the 2 other interns I was hired besides but were contracted out somewhere else making flowcharts in some software instead were boosted to 70k in their second year. I only got to find this out when I left
I also found some paystubs in desk drawers that read 60k-68k
something else I got to find out when I left is that one of those interns was actually costing his client 250k so he was gonna bounce for 170k to work directly for them
you know who this hurts? me who kept getting shit from management even tho I held the whole tech department together. the employer doesn't want you to know. when I asked for a market rate raise (before leaving and knowing what others made) the owner told me how ridiculous it was for me to ask for 70k, which was just my title and not experience... I quit because he was a dick -
Pay transparency means you can't pay the quiet but effective person on your team fairly.

retoor81223d@Lensflare just work as hard as you can and you'll never be overpaid and days fly by. But I do feel guilty making around a double of construction worker or so. Also, better paid than a military sent out to mission. That puts stuff in perspective huh.

@cuddlyogre such a submissive mindset lmao. How does your boss dick taste like? Do you like the feeling of your tongue around his shaft? The ball gargling?

Pay transparency can be good, especially if you're younger, and you don't know where to look for what is a fair salary. But also, yes, it can foster jealousy if it's a "here is money" type of business, and it is hard for someone to reason why that other person is earning more.
I will say I very much like @retoor have just done work and just been paid, I remember seeing my salary being doubled a couple of times. Current place just does the offerzen average + commissions (when I was an employee)

We have pay equity so everyone is paid fairly but you can’t discuss pay with anyone. Seems a little suspicious
