My heart just explodes when I see a simple binary, zip or tar.gz if they are supposed to be the built artifacts (artifacts should be stored in a related repository like Nexus or Artifactory)
I would be dead If I saw something like that in our repositories -
That's what I usually do with my own PR if I miss someting
`git commit --amend --no-edit`
Grouping modifications in one single commit helps other people reading the PR on Github
Some people are afraid to use it because then you need to git push with force... but guys please... it's your own branch!!! -
Don't blame the tools

You will reconsider that when you will discover the xml nightmare of maven the day you need to do something different that "build and deploy".
Gradle is better -
@Drillan767
The first deploy and integration test is in a test environment.
At the moment there is no production because we haven't released the first version of the project -

Oh come on...no recruiters here PLEASE!
-
I know your feel bro.
I am italian and i am a senior java developer (5+ years)
I started in Rome with shitty body rental companies.
I moved with my wife in Bologna, where i worked with a shitty software developer company and another body rental company.
I hate recruiters and i hate when they search me for a "interesting" job opportunity = another shitty work for another shitty body rental company for a shitty salary
Finally now i am working for a startup that works with blockchain: it's hard but finally i am wokring on a great project and i am learning many wonderful frameworks and technologies: Spring Boot, Ansible, Vagrant, Docker, Jenkins... -
I am/was in the same situation: the only dev to use Linux.
If you develop a java web app and the prod env target is a Linux server, then it must be normal to use a dev env in Linux.
I have this idea that the env dev must not depend to specific OS. This requires a little effort but with a normal java/maven build env it can be possible.
The must is to use Vagrant/virtualbox to have a local dev that can be destroyed/provisioned whenever you want -
