Mom : why were you late?
Me : Got lot of bugs in office.
Mom : Is everyone alright? Did you kill them?
Me : No mom we fix them.
Mom : I thought we kill them.
How humane are you guys.9 -
My fellow coworker's commit history of last 24 hours. And my boss was surprised when I told him I'm leaving the company..17

OH MY FUCKING GOD!
What is the point in separating us into backend/frontend developers if everyone has to learn/do everything?
And now this FUCKING DUMBASS that is leaving!!! The company convinced my FUCKING STUPID boss to start using react with nodejs on the new platforms ...
Did anyone think about talking to the fucking devops that maintain the fucking deployments about this????
By the way, this sucker is me.
And now I have one month to: deploy a new app... ALONE!! learning fucking react (please kill me) and probably merge it in a clusterfuck of unseparated backend/frontend because fuck it.
Oh, and figure out a way to make deployment automated and easy for me at least.
I'm about to rant in real life...7 -
Can you suggest Any good e-commerce project online which I can fork? My friend is requesting me to build such website for him. He is ready to pay but I don't have much time. I tried to say no but he is saying that he is flexible about time. So I am looking for some prebuilt project which I can fork. I am good at express react and django.13

My life 😂 why can’t I just stick with one? So many lost hours figuring out the differences between distros, patching kernels, installing drivers, and for what?8
-
Oh yeah Google why don't you just change the parameter order of functions, remove entire functions between minor versions, and not put a single example on your API docs? And force devs to add 30 lines of boilerplate and start an http server so I can run the debugger? Fuck tensor flow, I'm moving to pytorch.2

Wow fuck today. I took the day off to watch the eclipse yesterday so coming in today was like Monday squared. Right off the bat I have somebody from last week that I had spend around 8 hours working to get their system right call in and tell me they were cancelling even though everything just got working right.
Also got tasked with documenting the servers which wouldn’t be rant worthy if the dev that set them up didn’t get cranky whenever I ask for credentials or even a rough overview of how the server stack is configured. Then I get a ticket about how a customer is going to get his data from his ‘web guy’ but this customer has been keeping his data in our system for the better part of a decade. Wtf you getting bro? And who is this web guy? What data does he have? Nobody seems to know. And just to smear shit on top it turns out I swapped the addresses on the car parts I sold on eBay and now I have to do 2 returns and cross ship and almost definitely get negative feed back. Fuck everything.
All this before lunch. After lunch I still have the same problems but at least I got chicken!1 -
sigh. I hope one day Linux can be rewritten in something with more sensible package management. C/C++ can just be a real pain more often that not. My case was trying to install CUDA on ubuntu 16 following the OFFICIAL developer guide. gave up after trying for an hour. It needed the kernel headers for compile the drivers and it was jsut alot of pain dealing with files being in the wrong place and gcc version mismatching and tons of other cryptic errors. and this is for ubuntu which is a pretty mainstream distro.8

1. I agree to work with you on your startup idea because i believe in you.
2. I am the solo developer doing both the mobile apps, website, database and server side.
3.You call me shouting and complaining that i am too slow.
4. sudo rm -rf ~/your_project5 -
Just spent a week designing and building an airbnb clone from scratch in a team of only four people. I don't know what I need more - a beer or my bed 😂4

I don't use Google/Facebook for privacy reasons (and their sub-services etc). Haven't used them for ages but noticed that google still loads a lot of domains like analytics etc. This goes for facebook as well.
I now blocked a lot of google/facebook domains through my hosts file.
It's funny to see the amount of DNS requests to those fb/google connected domains nearly go to zero and also the fact that I literally can't load google/facebook anymore!126 -

During an interview, is it ok to show the live websites/apps(backend admin dashboard) that I did alone at my current job? How do you all showcase your works?5 -
No grandpa, I don't scam people online. I am a web developer - I earn my living online, building web apps, plugins, etc. (and stuff that you won't really grasp). And again, stop telling people that I'm lazy - I don't watch movies on my computer from 8AM-5PM. Lovely grandma, please don't believe him.2

I was thinking about using Drupal for project, just to try out a CMS. Before using it, I decided to search devRant for "drupal" to see how bad it is.
Nope, I am just going to use plain old VueJS with flexbox.9 -
Trying to manage and develop five massive projects does not leave much free time and does not do much for my sanity.3

Potential Employer: So your website does not seem to work well in Internet Explorer. A lot of employers might get annoyed with it.
Me: Yeah, I don't want them to hire me or even send me a message.2
