@coolq if you dont play dnd or whitewolf or some sort of tabletop roleplaying or tabletop inspired game, start. I think youd enjoy it.
-
Is everyone allright lol you totally did not make this up, what a total mom thing to say
-
I couldnt find work doing desktop apps so moved to servers. Originally wanted to do (desktop) computational science. But my early years were gui and mvc with visual c++. Last desktop i did was for researchers in python actually.
You have steady desktop program work? For Windows? Or for Linux? I couldn't do it now, whatever i knew is ancient now. Unless clients ok with tkinter lol -
@Froot same, we've wasted our time. I am in fact a rage driven maniac, especially after the announcement from redhat. And you stated earlier you've no experience in this, but it really bothered me because you continued to speak about something that's literally threatening next months pay as if it were trivial. Even though you and I both know you have a different situation entirely.
-
@jaread maybe you read policies in original post as politics but you're the one who pissed me off bringing politics into it. I'm not fucking analyzing human rights or economics here. But yeah bringing youtube up in devrant, will try not to do that again.
-
Im useless without it.
-
@devrocket this is probably true
-
@jaread not talking about the same thing. Just forget it why do i waste my time
-
@7400 Google "youtubes new policies content creation"
Idk who you consider reputable but scroll around and see plenty of content creators speaking out. Again I need to remember if I am going to ask questions I need to have a few ready to fire examples and indisputable announcements to back it up. Not being nasty - just mean that as engineers we should seek evidence and not just listen to rumors. I was kind of annoyed hearing yet again about youtube being a jerk, but Im not a creator, I dont know the pain points too well. -
@jaread What the heck is this supposed to mean? You think I am concerned if racist content is banned simply because I see a change in the atmosphere on youtube? Sorry I find this a little ignorant, as if you think that the only content that is banned on a platform is outright racist content. What about someone sharing their experiences with a disease? What about a clip that is informative but doesn't ask the user to subscribe? Should those be banned - because I'm hearing that they are being banned, and they have not even racist undertones, and were previously considered acceptable content.
-
@7400 I;m a little out of my league as I don't follow it directly, but I keep hearing from friends about how their favorite channels are unhappy with youtube removing their content due to silly things. Things like videos not being interactive enough, not being long enough, etc. I will try and get better details but Ive already heard two stories about disabled people who are told their content is not right for youtube. "Shadow banning" is a term that has come up in conversations which is banning for reasons that barely fit, or reasons that aren't even disclosed. The atmosphere on youtube has changed lately, presumably in the name of profitability of content.

You could make bank doing copywriting and web design and content creation. Heard ppl make 10 20k usd a week doing this for large sites
-
Lower, barely, yes, a little

@Froot I'm gunna try this. Maybe this will get you to show an ounce of compassion and stop bragging about how your little toy apps can be pushed into any docker platform. Reminder that openshift v2 is NOT docker. Ok. From another user impacted by the issue who is already where you claim to be with this shit: "Containerizing the app, resolving the issues, rewriting some of its parts, testing and putting everything together can be a considerable effort, even for a small scale app.
What's more, the transition process is not instant and should be reversible, so if any serious problem arise, you can just switch back DNS records to the old app, resolve the issues and try again.
Now, the old app is going to be shut down in a month, so there's no way to go back. The fact is, the migration should be already done and the old apps should be still up and running as a standby in case there's a need for failover." See? This SUCKS, you jerk. -
@Froot the fuck are you talking about same boat? Clearly you're in a different world. You don't have customers or a not yet containerized app. You don't have a business to run. Go play
-
@Froot well fucking good for you and yours. You must work for redhat because my time also means nothing to them. Also like redhat you didnt help my situation or provide useful information. Just mention that apps should be perfectly compatible with every paas. Thats not my experience. Again not everything is docker. Fuck.
-
@Froot and while i agree it should be this is a production app affected for example, it is built to be run on openshift not docker openshift. It was do or die and still is. Don't have free time to dick around with all new tech to make a 12 factor app. Wish i did and many new projects have started with modern dev in mind. But openshift v2 are not docker
-
@Froot no. You don't use openshift v2 i guess
-
@620hun you maybe took my joke the wrong direction. I was immitating the ignorant, not trying to be ignorant. I guess there isn't a meaningful difference so i regret commenting at all

How about the paasive agressive "right tool for the job" arguments?
Men are for getting things done and business and women are only for hackers and research.
No, every server in google and amazon is a woman, its only sleeping with men that you need men for. -
If it wasn't for all the biologic functions like eat and sleep, hectic just to keep alive bullshit, errands, pain in the ass calls, family not respecting boundaries when working, and sys admin shit I'm forced to do - i could code 24/7. Since much of coding is learning i van break up tasks into more easily digestible bits. And since I'm over burdened and only eat because of feature creep and financial mismanagement, i have plenty to learn, code, test, repeat.
Pomodoro keeps me from ignoring the real world though. 5 minute break turns into 5 hour bullshit fest that only helps other people too often -
Hmm and i just started learning tf. Will be checking out pytorch
-
@xecute honestly i wasnt decided on what to use just wanted to move from hpc into actually using hpc. Actually not sure if i knew about n net or not at the time. I ended up using genetic algorithm optimization but i wouldnt consider that ai

That elephant duck hybrid is terrifying. Id code faster in its pressence just to leave early every chance .
-
@funkfan82 i think youre right about this in one sense, but companies used to just say they cant afford the raises. Now they rotate you once youre no longer a price optimal asset. I hate this world so fucking much.
-
@Gogeta70 this makes me sick. Esp when you mention that its from 6 months ago you were late. You sound like a hard worker and youre being put in an unfair position for being late 3 times. Now im positive this us why i was let go. I hope everyone involved in this decision geta permanent uncontrollable diarehea and loses their jobs for being late from shitty drawers.
-
@Baguette nothing strange about not having an avatar if you ask me
-
Pretty sure i saw cuda enabled amazon nodes. Not sure about the details though, or if its even worth it for you

@orion-ix wish you said nothing then sent him facebook message saying "no".

@ItsNotMyFault clearly it's not your fault
