#Personal_Opinion
I'm still a little annoyed at the fact that GitHub started pushing us to name the first branch "main" instead of "master".16 -
That moment when your server is so messed up you can only blame the devil.
So you throw away your stupid atheism, begin believing in jesus and you do an exorcism on your server.
You server still sucks, it's obviously because earth is flat and the instruction set of the CPU is meant for a round earth that never existed...3 -
So I've decided if I am invited to a school career day the what I'll do is this.
1. Start by handing out one of those logic puzzles that are like Sally lives 2 houses down from Bill, Bill is 3 houses away from Maggie where does Jerry live type of thing. Then I'll tell the kids they have 10 minutes to figure it out.
2. After about three minutes I'll tell them that they also need to figure out where Jerry lives and not give them enough information to figure that out.
3. 5 minutes in I'll start asking them why it is taking so long, and it shouldn't be that hard. I'll also ask about where Phil lives who was never mentioned before.
4. At 7 minutes I'll look for anyone who might be figuring it out and tell them there is a much more important high priority problem I need them to solve and give them a new puzzle and tell them I expect them both to be done on time.
5. At nine minutes I'll start yelling at them that they must not be that good and why they haven't finished yet if any of them complain I'll tell them they are just dumb.
6. At ten minutes I'll ask them to turn it in and then immediately throw it in the trash and tell them that wasn't what they were supposed to be doing, and tell them they did it wrong.
I figure that is a pretty good representation of what working in software engineering is like.3 -
HR: I’m sure you know what this meeting is about
Dev: My script that converts the name of our 3rd party IT provider in any email thread I reply to with “PooPoo Inc.”?
HR: No, that is a separate meeting
Dev: Ah.4 -

WARNING: Cringe stuff ahead
And now this happens
A dude who posts spams on LinkedIn and shits on people publicly, made yet another garbage post (which was copied too).
Ref. picture attached in the post.
That went viral on Reddit and I made a comment that I know this guy, have spoken to him, and he made me go bonkers.
Now, he runs a community on Slack that I am part of. I open Slack today and see a message from him where is being sarcastic on how hateful I was.
Ref. picture in comments.
What kind of hypocrite someone could be when they shit on others but when called out, get hurt.
No one says anything to my dev friends.15 -
Trying to install python3.7 for one fucking dynamic library for the past 3 hours. Built from multiple 3.7.x sources, tried altinstall, enable-shared, install, with/without optimizations, tried virtualenv which is absolutely fucking irrelevant but I tried.
Now I'm just asking someone who has it to send me the worthless soup of voltage fluctuations
oh and fuck python. or people that use it irresponsibly. im not in the right mind to distinguish

Progress on the ESP32 studio equalizer project! It looks much better and has less stupid silly cables everywhere.11 -
Manager: Why haven’t you shipped any code today? It’s almost lunch.
Dev: Stuck on a bug
Manager: I’ll help you
Dev: Please don—
Manager: Have you tried thinking outside the box?
Dev: …Dear god please end my existence
Manager: You could try stack overflow too, have you ever used that site before?
Dev: 😮 🔫
Manager: Also sometimes bugs are caused by npm modules so rule that out first
Dev: *On knees praying to Zues for forgiveness and/or conveiniently placed lightning strike*12 -
Taught by managers who are too eager to hold "meetings which could have been emails", developers have now fully succumbed to holding "webinars which could have been a readme".7

Parents - It’s so hard naming kids you know.
Me - At least it’s an one time job, try naming VARIABLES.6 -
