It's Karma!

I had a similar experience. My manager likes to call rather than check the commit log or pull requests. I believe he thinks it's the quickest way to find out information. If I avoided his calls, he would ping me on company's IM or even Whatsapp.

These people are the early adopters (Rogers bell curve). They try to upgrade more frequently and always stay on the bleeding edge. Unfortunately they do contribute to E-waste.

@FelisPhasma You would need a lot of patience with such managers. Do not ever lose your nerve. Always focus on your work. Do your work and learn. Sometimes it means on terms defined by your boss. Make acquaintance with people in top management and bring up your issues and ask for suggestions. Don't complain, it may not help. Change may not happen overnight. There are a lot of opportunities out there. Worstcase, leave the company if you can't take it anymore and if you don't receive any support you expect.

I have a boss who is power hungry and doesn't care much about the team. He setup a daily syncup meeting (not standup) where we should only discuss what we do but not discuss our problems. All issues must be brought to him face to face. He spends almost the entire day in a conference room in meetings and away from the team. My team is frustrated with his attitude to the core. He doesn't posses the minimum technical knowledge or empathy of a typical manager. The Developers go mad whenever they here his technical solutions for their problems.

I had a similar problem. I was unable to access any Data on LTE but I was able to make calls. I went to customer service and they reset my APN. Now, I can make unlimited calls and access 4G.

Speak politely to your colleague. Find his experience with CSS preprocessors. If he's a novice then suggest some resources to self-study. I have interviewed at least 20 frontend developers in the past and most of them surprisingly didn't practice it well.
Don't you have a way of working or best practices defined somewhere? Perhaps, you can share this documentation to your colleague. I believe you do have code reviews. Write your comments there so he may fix his mistakes and improve. -
@jonii I try to spend about 5 hours/day for actual work and the rest on something to train myself. I definitely can't say I can be productive all the time. At peak schedules, I had even worked beyond midnight and that's because I work in a globally distributed team. The management simply ignore or doesn't respect timezone differences. For them, delivery to customers is the only thing that matters.

Mostly, I work from 9am to 7pm. My company's HR policy strictly says that employees should stay at office for 9 hours. The company has no work at home option. If this is not enough, my manager asks me to support on weekends. So, I typically spend around 60 hours/week. It has already ruined my work-life balance. It's just a matter of time before I burn-out and leave. Discussion with HR/manager never changed anything.

Not many know about LaTex. I've only come to know it when I was writing a paper.

we do also have pull requests to prevent any conflicts.

Yeah! You need a lot of mental strength to cope with the changes in JavaScript ecosystem.
