Thats why i just call it tex :P

@UltraJason tex is lower level. It's the typesetting mechanism that I would not dare to touch in any scenario apart from pure curiosity. I'd stick to "LaTeX".

Not many know about LaTex. I've only come to know it when I was writing a paper.

@kronos I wouldn't say so, it's Pretty much the standard for academic papers now!

I still don't get why people call it programming. I seen unable to think of LaTeX as a programming language. It's a bunch of macros you use?

@dr-ant someone made a console emulator using latex

Hehe, the reddit post was actually reposting the original source, which is the Telegram channel @shit_tg_says

Quite funny for me since I follow that and the Top Devrants channel so I saw this there

@dr-ant LaTex is a programming language as much as HTML. It is not xD

@7Raiden iirc LaTeX is turning complete
    So checkmate :D

@vringar Fair enough, but we agree that's it's an exotic definition for LaTex :)
  • 3
@7Raiden actually is much more than HTML. You can have conditional rendering and even loops. Is more like a templating engine like Jinja and Pug than HTML.
  • 3
@lucaspar OK, that's another level for LaTex, which I never really used ;) so yeah, it looks like it's more like a templating engine!

@dr-ant I agree. I feel like calling LaTeX a programming language is like calling HTML a language.

@NULLmaster well from the comments above, it's more like a template engine like @7Raiden said.
