I'm sick of managers treating the project I work on as a joke. First, a junior colleague, and now a junior QA. I'm the the most experienced and I'm only mid level dev. It's a very cool project with interesting technologies but I have no time to tutor people...

I have a meeting today with our UX designer to explain why we can't provide a Photoshop resizing functionality to a block level element inside a content editable div. That will be hard.2

The year is 1999/2000 and my parents bought my brother a PC. Pentium processor, 128MB of RAM and a Sony Trinitron monitor. Sweet machine. Used to play Delta force, Heroes on it. My brother played Civ 2/3, Heroes 3 etc. Lovely times, no worries, no stress, the only pain was the champagne.

Today I had a problem with an app for table reservations. It gave me a strange error. A friend of mine is working on that app and I directly called him to resolve the issue. Boss of all bosses.1

I currently work on a project where every teammate is trying to write as complicated code as they can. I suppose the idea is that way the client could never understand the codebase and we'll be developing and maintaining forever. Now I have to develop a functionality for resizing and rotating SVGs and they probably expect me to write obfuscated code to.2

Can't decide which language to pick up as a hobby. Common Lisp or Haskell? There's also Elixir. Tough choice.6

A coworker who is not interested in getting better as a developer and he's a junior btw. Not interested might not be the right word but lazy or even frightened. He likes to give his ignorant opinion on everything, mostly on things he doesn't understand. He's ok to talk to but ignorance shines through. Now thinks that a MacBook will do wonders for him.1

Colleagues of mine, even though they show signs of versioning their api by having "v1" in the URL, keep committing breaking changes to that version. 😂1

Become the best developer I can. Contribute to open source. Master emacs. Make people take my skills and knowledge more seriously.

It's a funny story. When at the gym I usually wear t-shirts with tech companies logos, from companies I've worked at. This guy comes to me and asks if I'm a programmer. Turns out he's also a programmer and we began chatting every time we were at the gym at the same time. Some months later he joined the company I work at and we're now colleagues. He's a pretty cool dude.1

Just shaved my beard and immediately regretted it. I look like a snail now... And my Linux skills are gone...28

Sports made me a team player and overall determined person. It thought me that progress requires time and that appetite comes with the eating.

Seeing devs having only a hammer in their hand is making me sad. At least don't talk bullshit about things you don't understand or haven't tried... Most of the front end devs at my company are like that.2

A colleague of mine said that functional programming should be banned by law. He finds it so hard and at the same time the only language he knows is JavaScript

Vim got me interested in efficient text editing but Emacs made me stay. I like both and use both, but for different things. -
Sometimes when I think to myself "I got this deadline but I have to do my job the right way" I remember that I'm opposing craftsmanship to economics. And sadly, economics always wins.

Nobody is interested in the pioneers and the early history of computing. We have to know our history in order to understand the present! I have friends which say that it's lousy to dive deep into the history but I enjoy it thoroughly.7

Why everyone who decide to try Linux installs Ubuntu? I don't find it useful friendly at all. And adding a repo every app is daunting. And on top of that on their official site there isn't a single mention of Linux. And yeah, Canonical make money off your data.24

Found my dream girl. Programmer, smart, good sense of humor, knows Python, but nothing can happen. Boyfriend of 7 years and thinks I don't like her. :D How did I deserved this?11

Gotta start learn react. Only two frontends in my company know react and it seems my Vue knowledge don't mean nothing... I'm kind of excited, mainly because for a long time I wanted to make mobile apps and with react native I'll be able to do so.4 -

Fun fact
Did you know that there is a UNIX command called "tac" which prints the contents of a file from bottom to top, unlike "cat" which prints them top to bottom.16 -
So I began at my first programming job as an intern and it was as bad as it gets but I kept going, thinking that this was normal. After my internship I continued to work full-time at the same company and was working on new functionality on their legacy product build in ASP Classic and their shitty inhouse front-end framework (which btw used eval to evaluate strings in so called queues). So I was assigned a task to create a module which needed some available data in the database. I was discussing my ideas with my supervisor and she didn't let me finish and began speaking on how I should get the data needed. My approach was much more clean and used only one request and hers used two. So I heard what she had to say and I wanted to finish what I was about to say before she interrupted me but she did it again. I go nervous but let her finish once again. After that she left me to work on my task and I did it the way thought was right (and it was). After she saw my approach she was furious because I didn't talk it over with her and she said that she don't think that we can work together if I continue to work like this. I felt how my head filled with blood but I kept calm. If I had opened my mouth I would surely get fired. But I didn't open my mouth and quit after one or two months. She was a real bitch that day...1

I'm really glad my parent knew the importance of computers. They bought my brother a PC in 2000 and we got the chance to learn a great deal of things. I remember those times with a grin on my face. Probably the happiest years of my life. :)3

I made a hotkey script for a colleague that made the backspace act like a left arrow. You should've seen his face when he saw the cursor moving back but not removing characters.4
