Fuck WYSIWYG.
More like what you see is what you deserve for working at a company that uses Microsoft threeshittyfive.6 -
I have never seen a more ass backwads debugger than the one in Automation Studio. Shits desinged to only debug the cyclical part of a program. Bitch! I need to debug the init part! You worthless pile of freshly minted horse shit!

- So no one gives a shit that i have a cs degree
- No one gives a shit that i have the knowledge and skills THEY require
- Now the new bar is to work at least several years as a slave so i can get hired
The only reason i got rejected is because i havent worked in a company for 3+ years...?6 -
Rejection 2 / 1000 of my 1000 job applications TikTok journey
Another vague response. It appears to me as if all of these companies are looking for a top 0.1% FAANG engineer and pay him $600/month7 -
God save me from bullets, bombs... and motherfucking Maven dependency management hell!!
On second thought, bring on the bullets and bombs, they're less stressful than this Maven bullshit!!3 -
Dependency Injection Frameworks are absolute shit. I have yet to encounter one that doesn't make code take hours to understand or debug, and usually requires a debugger to even begin to unravel it. Not to mention the "context" god objects that just are glorified versions of passing an array from function to function. You guys aren't avoiding global state you're just making it a clusterfuck. Stop being stupid for 2 minutes software development "progress" challenge. Level: impossible.19

Story time!
A little over a year ago I was in the hiring process with a new company and countered their initial offer. I was told by the CTO that it was no problem and they would get back to me soon.
A couple days go by and I'm then informed that they're hiring a new IT director and would like me to interview with him as well. It felt kinda lame since I'd already been offered the job but I rolled with it.
When I showed up to the office for an interview I tried to call and let them know I was there and couldn't get a hold of anyone. 30 minutes later I get a call from the CTO saying they couldn't find the new IT director and when they got him to answer the phone he said he had left early and would call me to do a phone interview.
Obviously the whole experience so far has been pretty lame but I stuck with it because I knew the CTO personally. I did the phone interview and quickly realized this dude was a prick, and would be a terrible boss, but I spoke with the CTO again who told me to stick with it and eventually I did get the job.
Fast forward about a month and it's clear the new director is trash. He literally bragged about firing a dude over an accidental outage (wtf!?).
He had the technical experience you'd expect of a junior help desk and his management skills were pretty clearly sub-par.
He was also, for whatever reason, completely unable to communicate with the only woman on our team. When assigning work he would always feel the need to ask if she could 'handle it' rather than just assigning it to her like it's done for everyone else. He was pretty clearly sexist.
The whole team hates this dude by this point but he's somehow managed to woo the executives into thinking he shits gold.
I was helping him set up a Python venv on his machine when I noticed another VPN client installed which certainly piqued my interest. After a bit of digging it was clear he was using company time and company equipment to continue working for his previous employer.
We turned over logs and he was fired the next day. He tried to add me on LinkedIn afterwards and I have never declined something quicker.
Moral of the story is don't be a dickhead.1 -
It is time. I have to admit it.
I don't understand Git.
I just memorized some basic commands: git commit, git push, git push -u origin master, git clone, git checkout [-B], git merge. That's it, that's the full list. I use them like they're some kind of magic spells that do what I need. Everything else, those intricacies like rebasing, resetting, HEAD and all that shit, is beyond me.
I'm not a real programmer. Real programmers know Git.30 -
This last week I have been so excited about Artemis going around the moon. This is the kind of stuff that people need. Stop bickering about bullshit. There is a universe to explore!
I saw parts of the flyby today and it was really really cool. I hope NASA is getting incredible data from this. I cannot wait until we send people there again. Probably better to use robots, but going there in person is cool. -
Just scored my personal red flag bingo in new project:
- engineers who work there for 20+ years
- their own in house build tool
- "we have Jira so it means we are agile"
- "we have Jenkins so it means we do Ci/cd"
- git adoption is "in progress"15 -
Go to the office, start the computer, get some coffee, open up Eclipse...

So I'm making a music game, and I've been struggling to fend off this large sound latency issue. There is like a ~80ms of latency, which is a total deal-breaker for music games.
So I've been polling everything using a profiler, but nothing came up... Until just now, I realized:
IS IT MY F*<KING KEYBOARD THAT IS LAGGING?
I pulled my iPhone out, opened the Notes app, and recorded the screen as I smacked the keyboard.
Whaddaya know, exactly after 5 frames (in 60fps) of the sound of me punching the keyboard, the letter shows up.
Now I need to take *this* lag into account :facepalm:3 -
i miss being intuitive, creative, free of that need for productivity and reason and purpose. i need more of that dionysian energy in my life4

All these super expensive and fancy enterprise tools. CloudWatch, AppDynamics, Grafana, Splunk and whatnot. Spent a month trying to figure out why the fuck the app does not perform well.
Took 1 day with tcpdump, awk and gnu utils to figure out why.
Should anyone need a tcpdump analyzer -- try my awk script. Shows response times of each network call w/o impacting app performance :)

Not all Asians are the SAME. Let me explain, I got a coworker who goes by the name "Lau Dum Fuk" (which I learnt that it is pronounced "loud doom fok"). I was so stupid that I pronounced his name as "Loud Dumb Fuck" very awkward. I am Asian but I pronounced Asian name wrong . Who started with the idea that all Asian are the same?16 -
Client company will only move to the cloud once they learn their competitor has, in fact, moved to the cloud. Way to compete guys.
