Doesn't surprise me at all. The entire xbox one is one giant shit show...
Get a new game? Wait an hour or two to be able to play....
Every game seems to take forever to actually load....
The interface itself is clunky and slow as fuck... just browsing the store is incredibly slow too...
I have personally taken taken to calling the Microsoft waitbox...
Oh the times when I wish I had actually stuck with the 360 instead...
Question: is the PlayStation any better with wait times and game installs? -
Looks like the eastern brown snake so it isn't a python. Even if it isn't a brown snake then it certainly isn't a python, the head shape is wrong.
Barring that servers will attract snakes due to the warmth, darkness and relative concealment from predators. -
Usually promotions come with added stress....

I find my coding motivation peaks and ebbs through out the day.
When it ebbs I usually take a 10 minute break and read something. Or I switch projects and do 10 mins on a fun side project. I am pretty strict about the 10 min thing and jump back into the main thing whether I wrote 10 lines or 2 lines... -
Hey as long as they keep paying your hourly fee it's fine in my book. If your working for a fixed fee then your screwed.

@rEaL-jAsE I think the lite version I suggested could be done.
Have the core browser with the rendering engine, is implementation etc and have anything else as extensions.
For example who other than web developers need the web inspector? That just adds bloat and ran usage for everyone and is only really used by a relatively small percentage. -
If the manager and client doesn't know what needs to be built than just create a random spark app and say "done".
When they tell you it isn't what they wanted just reply "where does it say what needs to be built?" -
@rEaL-jAsE it was when it was originally released. The main competitors had become bloated and slow by feature creep and now it is chrome that has become overly bloated.
Time to reset I think and ship a chrome lite without all the crap bolted on. -
Classes with car keyframes may be an answer. Js based animations are typically very expensive as they touch the dom which causes repaints and potential reflows.

Unless your time cost him 15k in wages then it is a net win for him imho. Probably closer to 5k saving and for small businesses that adds up quickly.
-
@Nanos they have a unique situation. If the f up they are gonna die... Just imagine if us coders had the same situation... You go to work and strap yourself into an electric chair. One committed bug and the mains voltage gets pumped into your veins :P

@CoffeeMakesCode more like a "commence maintenance mode" party

The hatred for WordPress is when developers try to make it do things that it wasn't designed to do like ecommerce, inventory control etc.
For simple sites like brochure sites and.... erm blogs.... then WordPress is perfect. Just keep it up to date and be careful which plugins you install -
I usually keep saying at work that safari is the new IE....
So i don't expect ios is any different -
Yeah we require plant nudes for.... erm.... reasons.
-
@JustThat ideally devs should value all those things greatly but sometimes there aren't enough time and/or budget to achieve all that. Depending on the project some deadlines cannot be slipped and you have to cut somewhere.
Admittedly this shouldn't happen but we all know it does. -
Interesting that you end up opening incognito 10 times a day.... at that point I think I may just start downloading my porn instead :P
-
@mojo2012 Your not the only one..
-
@HoloDreamer you may be able to raise your prices slightly to improve the situation. It's a judgement call as to how much though
-
@potata there is a limit though. I don't fancy walking into a restaurant, ordering and then waiting an hour for the food to arrive regardless of how good or cheap the food is...
What they are really paying for is the knowledge and experience that it took to quickly analyse the situation and put in place a solution that works and that should be maintainable.
If it takes a dev 3 hours to do something and your paying them 50 an hour, or you have a different dev that can do the same in 1 hour but changes 100 an hour, there your saving money with the faster dev. -
You could always fire the client but then you wouldn't be able to pay the bills.
Unfortunately since you have priced yourself so low with that client before they are going to expect similar pricing in future projects and realistically raising them now is only going to alienate them and lose them. -
Just play Facebook games for some malicious compliance :P

@Navigatr does it have any relation to this?
https://amazon.co.uk/Exploding-Kitt... -
Depending on what needs doing it may just be possible to read and understand just enough to make the necessary changes.
Obviously if it's a new feature than your up the creek but fixing a typo or small change should be possible. Afterall nearly languages are made up of the same sorts of constructs, logic statements, function calls and the like even if the specific syntax differs. -
@toriyuno try reading a snakes body language ;-). Most of the time it was a "touch them in the middle of the body and watch their reaction" type of thing.
-
Another language like French or another programming language?
-
Interesting fact that some of the Windows 98 Windows were in fact html and css. I spent a few weeks creating custom folder views when j discovered that little fact.

As others have pointed out, those questions are there to gauge your interest in the company. Your clearly not interested enough to do basic research about the company and/or job description.
Sure you may be applying for senior roles but if your not willing to do some basic research into the company how can they be sure your the right fit for the job and your interested in the role at all and not simply just spamming your c.v. to any company with an open job ad?
I am not intending this to come off as harsh btw, I just playing devils advocate here :) -
Aren't most websites and apps just skins to databases...

Snakes are plain awesome.
