I wouldn't touch that thing with a stick from mile away 😂
Do they not see that and think hey we should probably clean that? 🙄 -
@ZioCain Somewhat uncharted territory so I can't say much. Unity does absolutely have it's share of quirks and issues no doubt.
Hopefully it doesn't go crazy on me anytime soon XD -
@-Minty- Ahh. Maybe it's just a bad install. Couldn't hurt to do a clean install? If you haven't already. 😂
-
@-Minty- I dunno bout you but I've been using Unity for several years and it's probably crashed on me like 5 times.
Not saying that your lying but my experience with Unity has been pretty good XD
Edit: Use it on Windows. Can't speak for Mac/Linux -
Probably not TBH. You already have really solid choices like C# and C++ that have established game dev communities, tools and learning material.
If you just wanna have a go at learning something new then by all means go for it.
If your objective is to seriously make games... Probably go with the aforementioned. -
++
Lightweight, works without much set up, don't need an account and other crap. Comes with a dark mode (looking at you Unity Personal). It's a great little engine that can do great things. -
To make things really clear and to avoid accidental fuck ups; be it by you or some-one else if you're working on a team...?
-
React Native or Nativescript for native apps. Besides that there's Cordova and Ionic
-
@irene Teach me your ways o.o
-
To all the type 1 people... I don't like you ^_^
-
Like every other line of code :)
-
@Jilano Ahh yes. The marketing and business fiends. I stay away from them
-
@Jilano How do you even manage to cram $6000+ worth of MTX into one game o.o what were they smoking...
-
@fuck2code XD sorry that wasn't targeted at you. I meant the constant shit thrown at games by society. Whether it's being too violent or too sexual and what not.
It's just a game. A work of fiction. It's pretty easy to just ignore it and not play it. Unless it's very blatantly promoting hate towards someone or a group or something I don't think it's that big of a deal ya know. -
So games shouldn't have politics but politics can meddle in games...
How about you let games do what they want. It's just entertainment. If somethings offending you simply don't buy it/play it. -
Yes.
I'mma say it... I'm a developer who absolutely HATES math. I can't stand math. Any of it.
Is it important? Yeah. Can it be cool sometimes? Sure. Does that mean I have to like it? I think the fuck not.
Fuckmath :)
Also yes. I'm terrible at it. I can never wrap my head around math. Working with numbers pisses me off. Working with letters and fancy symbols in the mix pisses me off even more.
The only thing in the world that makes math bearable to me is programing. I can only understand math in the context of development. Yeah I know that sounds weird but math makes sense to me when I need it to make something. Especially since I work mostly in games and I can visualize it and interact with the math. Math as equations and theories on a white board or in a textbook though... NOPE.
Sorry for the rant. Math was my worst enemy at school. And it often still is. No offense to math lovers ^_^
But it's definitely not for me. -
Specifically to LEARN... No.
There's resources available everywhere now. If you're determined, passionate and even somewhat disciplined; you can learn on your own.
It may not be as straight forward as going to class, listening to a lecture and doing assignments but it's very possible and IMO a better way to do things since you'll be inclined to explore and dig deeper when your mind is free to wander instead of being tied to the curriculum. (Of course wandering does not mean stop learning and browsing r/memes)
Now for getting a job... Then college is probably a good idea. Not necessary, but a good idea. That and college, depending on which one and how things are where you live can be a good experience outside of just learning. -
Get comfortable with yourself. Learn to laugh at yourself. You'll start to care less about being awkward and naturally feel more confident.
-
@devapsarl
Yep probably. I said in a another comment that the last thing I added was a simple game over screen. I probably messed up the implementation or something.
Thanks ^_^ -
@TMBSTruth lol 😂
Yeah I did. Tried it in Firefox and Chrome too. Don't think it's a browser issue.
I forgot to change my project to WEB GL and had it set to Desktop the whole time. Maybe something got messed up while Unity was trying to switch the project over.
Besides that the last change i made was adding a quick game over screen and tbh I half assed that so maybe I just fucked something up. But oh well. Too late now. 😂 -
Out of curiosity why do people insist on using Chrome?
I've heard from web-developers that the dev-tools and debugging on Chrome are good and that seems fair. But IMO there's plenty of other good browsers for daily use.
Personally use Vivaldi and have no issues with it. Usually have at least 10-15+ tabs open at any given time. Does pretty well at around 3ish Gigs of memory usage.
I've got a pretty decent amount of memory though (16GB) so maybe I just don't notice... :p -
@ZioCain Ahh that's fair. Unity usually does a pretty good job of handling that kinda stuff.
Maybe Unity's tired of their shit too XD -
I mean what'd you expect...? For Apple to make their ecosystem more flexible and easier to work with...
-
@TobiSGD So you're trynna tell me I can't survive solely on caffeine and cheese...?
-
@irene You just listed 4 developer taboos in the same line.
Rather bold of you :o -
@Teknas Haha who needs to be decisive when you can have computers make decisions for you :D
-
@SHA-16384 You know what... I quite like that.
-
@ihatecomputers Totally! Python is definitely less busy and tedious without all the curly braces and semicolons everywhere.
It doesn't like you messing around with it's indents though. But that's not too bad IMO.
