But you just did this on Photoshop lol
-
@Skayo oh lol that's brilliant
Not sure why but I imagined a wordpress blog kinda thing which was just created by site admin -
How did you get your script to run on their live server for every user who reaches the site?
-
As an update, here is a re-creation of what this looked like... 😷
-
That's awesome! What were the main points you picked up on? I recently learnt about using WebPack with Babel to bundle client and server code for compatibility & performance :D
-
"Everybody loves Haskell" - Pinocchio
-
"IP adress" ... Well they tried
-
So nice, all you need is a rug and something else on that damn wall ;)
-
Just about to start learning React...
Doesn't look too intuitive but excited to start -
My experience of apprentices is very good (provided you picked ones that interviewed well and showed passion). I find they are driven, keen to learn and impress, and are cheap labour! :P
-
This goes on my Snapchat literally every time I visit the airport haaa
-
@mrstebo true, but you can just stuff it all into private repos :P
-
I might just say 7 a week instead. Otherwise I find myself doing useless commits like updating TODOs or READMEs just to get the daily one ticked off in time.
-
@king your work is very impressive! Really like Snip and Wing... You've got some great stuff, nice work man :)
-
Woah nice job. Are they on private repos or do you contribute to open source projects?
-
What's the best way of universally packaging up a Python script? ie in a similar way to .jars
-
@capnsoup Sorry to hear that, you're in the wrong job if you don't enjoy it.
I love my work, and so do the people I surround myself with.
You're also getting the wrong end of the stick - employers aren't making you work extra hours for them. They're looking for people who are interested in their work, those who have spent their own time working on fun side-projects at home. Demonstrating passion, interest, and desire to learn.
If you want a top job you'll be competing against these people... -
@Lasse our industry is so different though - it requires talented and motivated individuals who want to innovate and keep up with the changes in technology.
The work on the job isn't enough.
From my experience, being motivated to learn more and work on side-projects really makes you stand out and will progress your career in many more ways. You'll contribute more to a team, you'll be more memorable, you'll enjoy your work more as you'll have far more understanding, you'll stand out from the crowd and you'll get better opportunities.
Shouldn't even be an issue if you love your work anyway :P -
And congratulations, you then don't get the job.
I'd rather hire someone who has both (activities and side-projects) any day. It's important to show your interest and willingness to learn outside of work -
Not sure that R suits the circle, and try picking slightly more fitting colours
-
I promise it's not me...
+ I'm a JS developer :o -
@peek4y I know of teams at that scale and they seem to be doing okay. Maybe try implementing a linter tool (ESlint) to ensure people follow the same code guideline. You could also do code reviews to ensure people are keeping to style and ensuring multiple people agree on an approach.
-
@peek4y A team of around 5 devs, 1k weekly users but potential for so much for. ~80k lines of code
In fact, I'm the opposite... Never met someone with a bad experience of Node! What went wrong with yours? -
I still swear by Node.js
Never experienced any problems with it, even at scale! -
@NickCh agreed, I think it's weird and petty. Share the knowledge and it will help you learn more, improve your teaching, and they might find an error in your code anyway.
Also red/green theme is revolting! -
Turn it back on. Plus router firmware updates usually occur at night so it's best to keep it running permanently anyway...
-
I mean I'm fully in agreement with JS for both of those... Always go with camel case, and that includes capitalising acronyms (HTML)
-
Yeah mines 8:30 to 6 so I feel ya
-
@Yankeesrule Agreed - it's shocking how many people apply for web dev roles and have no knowledge of the core standards.
With regards to Angular... Never used it myself so can't say. I'd rather learn React personally :P -
I feel like you should look for someone who is experienced with ES5 but has an interest/understanding of the ES6 features even if they haven't used it.
