Well at least he included the "s" in his first response.

@rabbi yea I got on my raspberry to check out how that looked hehe. Got a bit curious about how to solve a problem like this and whether these commands would have dependencies that would require the path variable to be set correctly or if it would work with just running the commands with the full path. The fact that cd works sounds positive.
Also I imagine you could probably do something like export PATH=/path/to/old/bin:/path/to/old/usr/bin to restore some of the core commands in that shell session... Or at least I think so. :P -
Not sure how it'd work after disconnecting but I'm pretty sure all commands would've just been moved to the /old/bin folder or /old/usr/bin or something. Meaning you should probably have been able to do something like /old/bin/mv /old/* /
The reason your commands aren't working should be because your PATH variable has directories listed that are relative to your root rather than to /old.
I'm no expert either but it think that's how it should work.
Edit: Assuming that's where the old folder was, which it probably wasnt. :P Otherwise just the same but with the full path to the "old" folder. -
Because that worked so well in the Titanic II movie.
-
@Fexell Yea I see where you're coming from. It's like putting a lock on your bike though. If the thief has a set of bolt cutters (or w/e tools bike thieves use), they can still break through it. It might be a bit more of a hassle, but it won't stop them if they really want the bike.
If you want to read more on how to protect against these types of attacks you should look up session hijacking. -
Haven't really worked with any of these frameworks so hopefully someone else can verify what I'm saying. But I assume that if the token is to hold any value at all as far as security goes it would have to be validated on the server side in order for the user to be able to access protected content.
Anything you do on the client side should always be considered insecure because the user can alter it to their liking. At best it will slow a determined attacker down. So trying to implement security on the front-end seems like a waste of time. The goal there should instead be to encourage the user to input correct information. -
I kinda wanna send this to my sister but she goes kinda mental about unsolved cubes so she might just end up tracking you down and breaking in just to solve your cubes... (patterns do not count as solved to her)

It's a bit unclear what the actual problem is but as far as the gui goes you just have to find something you're comfortable with. There are different desktop environments you can use on top of your distro (ex. GNOME, KDE, etc. ) and then of course you need to find the software you're comfortable with. Personally I mostly swap between the terminal and vs code. I have a shortcut key to hide/show the terminal on the right side of my screen.
-
Definitely no expert but personally I use it to keep my node projects running on my raspberry pi. Makes it so they're always running, easy to monitor and reload apps.
-
Generally it's a good idea to separate the pieces that do different things. This way it's easier to decipher what's what and the code becomes more manageable. Especially if you're not the only one working on the code.
You still may need to inject some variables into your html tags which is fine. But if you have php functions and logic that can be written elsewhere then you should do so. -
Yes. Kinda new to android myself but I'm really enjoying using Kotlin after getting used to it. My code feels cleaner and easier to build. (done Java programming for android also).
Took me a little while getting used to working with the null safety mechanisms and variable declarations though. I suggest reading the kotlin reference on their website to get the most out of the language. -
That's too bad. Personally I'm kinda in love with manjaro+KDE. If you still want to go the arch way there's Antergos for example. Or you could try a more lightweight desktop environment.
I'm kinda biased towards arch based distros so I'll leave the rest to others. -
Heard an old story from my dad where the server admin tried to tell him the password was secret. Took a while before he understood that the password literally was "secret".
-
Not sure how it is in other countries but it's worth checking if your school has some student health program or counselling of some sort to help you in creating a strategy to deal with stuff. Or to just talk it out, which can be helpful too.
-
Or you could go with "LiGNUx" which according to Wikipedia was Stallman's initial proposal.

Fun way to learn vim ^^ https://vim-adventures.com

Mine is hiding.

@thmnmlst finally doesn't hurt anymore. ^^ Starting to regain some mobility and muscles and putting my left hand up on the keyboard for shorter periods of time at least. :)
-
Got an HP laptop in 2012 and used it for 3 years. At the end the battery was pretty much completely dead, I felt embarrassed using it in public for how loud the fan was and using it in bed was a definite no-go because of how warm it got.
-
@thmnmlst nice of you to check up on me. ^^ Been 5 days since I had surgery now. Got some metal in there to support the broken bits. Hurt like hell the first like 2 days after surgery but starting to get better now. Painkillers and physiotherapy for now and if all goes well I should make a full recovery in a few months. :)
-
@garrettw Hahah I'm curious about that too. Found a good use for the swipe function on my phone keyboard. But ofc it's not always perfect and devrant only allows editing the first 5 minutes it seems. :P
-
Update: Just had surgery and all went well. Will however have some explaining to do in airport security from now on for metal parts. Will be a few weeks before I can put my arm in a positron for coding though I think.
-
@faisalhakim47 you got me. My one-handed typing is already pretty decent. The arm and the pain is very real though.
-
@DatNewDev hahah maybe if I attach a keyboard to my belly.
-
@missionearth Should be fine with surgery and some time. ^^ Just gotta try to keep up with school meanwhile hehe. Studying CS.
-
@thmnmlst Yep. Ran my snowboard a bit too fast. :P Just glad I'm not in more pain hehe.
