@kiki I'm not a webdev either but isn't Mozilla funded mainly by Google?
And isn't Safari the new IE?
In other words: isn't the influence of Google on the web standards increasing? -
I would say you can point to the documented methodologies ánd sound that you don't want to do this. Because you shouldn't be doing this according to the documented methodologies ánd you realllly don't want to do this.
There's nothing wrong with standing up for yourself or pointing to company procedures.
Nor is there anything wrong with letting this new guy know who he's dealing with! 💪 -
The next thing you can talk about is what your team is doing.
Just try it. If you guys get along there is nothing to worry about. And to me it's totally natural to check how somebody is doing. -
In the beginning of my career a colleague told me I should pursue a career in management and not programming. Because in programming you will need to learn new stuff for the rest of your life and in management you make more money.
Fuck that. I like learning and management is shit. Unfortunately it took me some years and shitty jobs/employers to find that out. -
When someone writes legacy code in modern times, we probably shouldn’t call it legacy but just bad code
-
Just a couple of days ago I read this article. Maybe you can get something out of it?

Without lows, no highs man..
Good luck, better times will come -
GTFO. These mofo’s only care about (short term) money and don’t care about this guy or his ambitions
-
Pascal is mentioned on this sticker: https://redbubble.com/people/...
👍 -
@FrodoSwaggins haha me too, but we can work it out. It means you were right about me being ironic.
But I have to add that I’m not a hater. I use Windows daily at work and it suits me adequately.
I’m definitely not a fanboy either, I would not put these cabinets on my wall. -
@FrodoSwaggins you definitely have a nose for irony

Good luck man!

Or when they call it a bug when they've actually changed the specs
-
You can do it man!
And: There's no shame in failing, just learn and become a better developer 👍 -
@some-one haha I will! 👍
-
Congrats man! My daughter became 1 today: it's been a fantastic year 😃
-
The satisfaction you get when your code finally works. And then again when the customer is happy with the product.
I also like the technical challenges, solving production problems and being able to learn about all kind of different businesses and their processes (and improving them). -
Good luck! 👍

I guess some people actually like helping people.
And of course, like every job, there are days that it's just crap -
What helped me when I was in a similar situation was just flip a switch in my mind. When I close the door of the office I leave my work behind. That's difficult, but remember 'it is just work!'. You're personal life is so much more important! Nobody dies when a task is not finished, so it's not that important.
Furthermore, you only have 2 hands and so many hours in a day. You do what you can, and more cannot be done.
Don't make other people's problems your problems. If it's not your responsibility, don't make it yours.
And it might be a good idea to start meditating. It will take some months, but it will ease your mind.
But first: make sure you eat and sleep properly: take care of yourself!
Good luck man and try to stay positive! -
Congrats man!
-
Happy new year!
-
Bizar indeed! And at such a young age!
Your nickname is the coolest though! 👍😂 -
Don't be to hard on yourself man. Just learn from this guy. Most of us were where you are now.
Stay positive and keep learning 👍 -
I know what you mean man! I once spoke to the support desk of my fucking internet provider and even this lady did not understand that my internet was not working even though wifi did.
Aaarrgghh! What the hell!
I hung up the phone shouting, after trying to explain the difference. Man that was frustrating -
@GigaByteRex I found the first print of this book in PDF on Google, so @Hopstar good luck searching 👍
-
I do! Wife, kid and a house! Even 2 cats. And it's fucking awesome man!
-
@purged thanks man!
Can you also give some advice on how to document your software? What is practical?
Thanks in advance 👍
