Open source is open source e.g source available im not sure why you make a difference when there isn’t any. The difference lies in licensing in which case I agree with you if that’s the case
-
Im not sure I see the problem of having public code that’s not free to use …? Many companies do that in fact, I think vscode was such an example. If in the end the library the person is doing is free to use what’s the big deal after all ?
-
Alone is better anyway
-
Personally I like the new look. Yeah yeah it’s macos bootleg but you know what I like it. You can say what you want macOS understands design. So I think it’s a step in the right direction to standardize their UI IMO.

Using AI to do maths is generally a pretty bad idea regardless of how accurate your model might be…
-
Straight forward answer that can simply be outright wrong on the facts it serves you. A reminder that coherent sentences can be factually incorrect still as many people using ChatGPT seem to forget that 😁
-
Sit in a corner, no desk, no pc, and just stare at people

I think by this point everyone is pretty much aware of the climate issue. And everyone gets it. There has been enough plastering over the last decade. If you look at the stats companies and the world in general is building “green” infrastructure around the earth faster than it has ever been, especially this last year. And besides what do you want to do at your scale ? Because I don’t know about you but I’m already doing everything I can at my scale to limit my impact. So yeah enough with the plastering everywhere please
-
The only word I retain from his speech is “chomo”. I think it’s a pretty good summary as well.

Id say it depends whether you enjoy software dev or is it just a mean to get money/job ? Because personally dev has become a bit more tame but I still mostly enjoy it, I also do it on the side to keep my interest going in new things etc… It’s hard to describe but I’d say it takes a special kind of person to do this line of work, if you feel you don’t fit in, then yeah might be time to look at other things
-
Because as opposite of the breakup you know where you’re going with coding (hopefully!)
-
I can make software just fine on windows :)
-
No, you just need to be around for a while, grow some business sense and have HR on your side. The technical seniority is bs in most cases, most people calling themselves seniors aren’t that much better technically in my experience anyway
-
Tbh the maintainer probably didn’t want to bother
-
Being an expert in security, ML and such will increase your income, beyond that I’m not sure you can keep staying a technician 100%. Being a consultant for big companies could also help, if you have an expertise + rep. But then again it depends what you call rich 🚀

Work/Pro accounts are AzureAD managed accounts part of the tenant of the org. Personal accounts are part of the global Microsoft tenant. Since both live on different tenants permissions won’t be the same and you will most likely encounter some issues accessing calendars and whatnot if you don’t have a proper account on the target tenant.
-
Oh ffs not this AI will take over the world non sense again. There is really a lack of understanding of ML in the world…

I am into tats, but that’s way too niche to even need a term lol

Life is unfair but generally you’ve been born amongst the people that might have a chance to become the 1% (unlike the dude that was born in North Korea slaving away his cereal crops). On that basis generically with time and efforts (not a mere 5 years (you can remove 2 because of Covid and I feel like that fucked most people up even the richest)) you can achieve a good position in the work world. Hell you are even in a good industry yourself so chances are you will at least have a product manager (or way more) type of job by the end of your career

If your job can be snatched by copilot no offense but you probably weren’t doing anything that great
-
You guys have thanksgiving?

Thankfully doesn’t happen to me anymore each feature is discussed with us before doing the final specs for it
-
High class lifestyle ? I mean I get paid well but I’m not rolling on gold personally, idk about y’all
-
XD

Most job advertising and interviews ask you to be a lvl 2^31 engineer but truth is most of these jobs are probably just standard boring jobs that almost any engineer could do
-
@msdsk that’s not the point, it just makes the company as a whole look bad really. If you don’t care about that then idk maybe you just don’t care about the work you do as a whole, that’s valid too… I think
Also in this particular case the guy was just trying to one up their boss so kinda cringe regardless -
Both sides are just lacking professionalism tbh. If you know someone in your company has made false PR just DM them. And if someone in your company is doing something stupid that they’re gonna get fired for, keep it private 🙄
-
That’s very amusing to me, I think the person that wrote this must have banged their head against they keyboard in agony because otherwise why would you add these checks 😂
