We want to begin community building right away, so we're sort of jumping the gun. Community is very important to each of us on the team. It's why we are building the app in the first place 😊
-
@gitpush were only just starting the project so its nowhere near released, very much just began. But Here's the repo if you wanna check it out:

I hate you and your damn cape wearing Christmas duck 🦆
Which cape is it?? -
Never really used it, me and Intellij go way back
-
@lithiex They are definitely ides... Or are you being ironic? Hmm 🤔
-
@dfox death threats to arbitrary people being referenced in rants, not other users. I think I worded that poorly. Also, thank you!
-
@dfox
-
@Cyanite Nah, I don't see a single mention of death, several cusswords, caps lock, or much more than normal frustration. Looks like a nontoxic rant to me :)
-
This ranter posts the kind of rants I like - rants about technologies etc. Not those toxic rants about how "X PERSON NEEDS TO DO Y AWFUL THING TO THEMSELVES BECUASE THEY DID Z UNIMPORTANT THING THAT UPSET ME FOR SOME REASON!"
Seems I can't get away from vicious rants no matter how many times I down vote them :/
So thanks for helping make my devRant feed funny yet friendly! :) -
@rm-rf-star Idk how op feels about juniors but it doesn't take skill to ensure you don't miss semi colons, just takes proper ide/tools
-
Thank goodness for reopening and hitting cmd+shift+i
-
`git diff` is a magical command...
-
@diadev lmaooo great now it's stuck in my head
-
Just curious, even if this is a gigantic app that deserves this many lines, why all one file?
-
Oxford comma pls

"A loving person lives in a loving world. A hostile person lives in a hostile world. Everyone you meet is your mirror."
Strongly believe this is (for the most part) true -
The world is full of good people too. It's all about how you look at it and where you are
-
@f03n1x no, thank you!
-
Had an interview like this yesterday. Couldn't think. Definitely failed it.
-
@singh (git out)
-
@ninjaintrouble "cannot be easily understood"...music theory definitely falls into this category.
-
Can you not test without committing?
-
I straight up just wrote a tiny app in it, looking up syntax through the kotlin brains docs as I went.
-
@Haxk20 how will there be more java devs? Also a project can be both Java and Kotlin, they are 100% interoperable. Also, Kotlin is very easy to read.
-
Agreed that Swift and Kotlin are pretty pretty (hah). Java is sorta gross though... Also I have yet to try vs for more than a level in a platformer so I can't super weigh in on that.
-
What If we just all start writing Windows apps for fun.... I hear that Windows has actually made it a pretty nice process compared to iOS and Android, with vs and all
-
Doesn't force object oriented either which is nice. Also check out anko, between kotlin and anko I halved the lines in some classes while actually adding features...
-
Kotlin is a language. It can be compiled on its own, to Java byte, or to Javascript.
Also aren't all languages just frameworks of machine code in the way that you're implying? -
Kotlin can in fact compile to both Java and Javascript. Also Google made it an official Android language today so support for it is promising.
-
@qbasic16 😂😂 that deserves a +1
