@-xlf I play guitar! Although none of my stuff has been released, it's all for me, but I guess the feeling that something you've helped to create has made so many people's experiences better is really great.

I just decided I'll give neural networks a go in the airport and two separate airport security guys came over and asked me what I was doing lol. Half Arab typing code furiously in a laptop and suddenly I'm Osama Bin Laden.
-
Crikey.
-
Oh god JavaScript framework wars.
-
Work hard. Keep focused. You'll be that guy and more. You've all got the potential to succeed :)

Oracle databases are the work of Satan.

Is it more important for a student to get through their work, or to understand it deeply?

Big problem with modern development is dependency on your tools. If a builder's hammer breaks, they can improvise. Use a brick; use a different hammer; shit use their hands if it's soft enough. That's because they understand the hammers part in the system. If the builders car breaks down because their head gasket blows, they're screwed because they have no idea where that thing fits into the system. It's a harsh way to teach, but it's certainly valid.

Something something masturbation something something MY Python.

Well I mean a little nudity wouldn't be so bad.

Grow a beard and change your name. Sneak quietly out of the office.

You should read the sun.misc.unsafe package. Lets you access the heap directly.
But yes your point is a correct one. -
Also Java does use pointers. It just passes all non-primitives by reference(kind of) and all primitives by value.
-
And then C tried to build a JSON API and Java brings him cakes in the psychiatric home he now resides in.
-
@Jumpshot44 so true man!
-
@drRoss Nah man, it's cool. Plus as I said, she does listen. And she fixes bugs that stump me, which is both incredibly annoying but good that I'm covertly turning her into a programmer.
-
Hahah, my girlfriend shouts 'BORING!!' When I talk about Dev stuff to her. But the other day I was trying to work out a problem with a JavaScript function and as a joke, she said it was down to var's scoping defaulting to the enclosing block, having heard me rant about it... she was right. Now she tells me she's offering lessons for £30 a time.
The tables have turned. -
So who's gonna write a web scraper for.... research?
-
You're all wrong for the sole reason that I am a Java Developer.
-
They approached you. Not the other way around :P
-
Awesome if you don't want to do anything *too* clever.
-
Nah that's pretty bad...
-
@ryanmat sounds a lot like your build pipeline needs to be modularised a bit.
-
What possible things are you doing that takes three hours??
-
Security? Flash!?
-
Literally my life motto. Outstanding.
-
@Jumpshot44 agreed! The journey of learning is as important as the knowledge you're trying to get

Burn them.

Or write a script and automate the process.
