@jestdotty that's classified as "work"
-
@sboesch Well it's still bad UX, even if it is DEVrant, don't have to be an ass about it.
-
@pionell so the latter?
-
There isn't one exact point of no return, just that I hate the language that tries to be simple and readable but somehow manages to be the complete opposite. Give me pointers and type errors any day.
-
A good combination is a nasal spray AND frequently blowing your nose. Pulling it in constantly won't help.
-
@M1sf3t Well it was big enough for local news to show up. The post I read said the total count was around 200 at one gate and 30 at another. 2 people arrested.
-
BREAKING NEWS: Developer social forum secretly forming KKK 2.0! White supremacists are spreading racist messages on a thread specifically made for this purpose!
-
@M1sf3t More like 200

Could someone please tell me what would be the proper way of salting and storing the hashes? I haven't really studied security much.

JFC, he's not talking about actual PHP developers for WordPress. He's talking about the fucks who "create a website" by adding a ready-built theme and adding every functionality with a new plugin.
-
@gronostaj People can voice whatever opinion they want and that's fine by me. I think the majority will agree that these low-effort posts by people who have barely used the tech are very annoying.
-
@kacper3w Still, I don't mean to be pedantic, I was just wondering. Thanks for the definition.
-
@kacper3w He didn't say it was low-level, just lower level :D
-
@kacper3w Well what do you consider low-level? Assembler?
-
@TheOneFuzzyBit Yeah, I mentioned that too. It's just that you're never too sure which one to use lol.

I was on a work trip and had to ride DB to get anywhere.
The system is sooo weird. So I get that you buy a ticket at the machine. Then you activate it... Before climbing into the train? How is it checked afterwards? Is it just a 1/100 chance that police will climb in at a stop?
There was also some kind of 2-story train which I had to take. To get a ticket I had to buy it at the helpdesk, which had a numbered queue. Why? Can there not be machines or multiple desks or something? I was praying to god that I don't miss the train because of this waiting.
Gotta thank Google Maps for saving my ass on this trip, without it I would've definitely gotten on the train to Spain or something. -
University.

I've noticed Snapchat using some really genius marketing strategies. The face filters, especially the gender change ones, speed and altitude stickers, Shazam integration, streaks, they have everything they need to not be "another messaging app" and psychologically force people to use it more often.
Now people are talking about such a minor change and I guarantee at least 50% of them will start using it again if they already had it installed. -
@C0D4 Look at you with your 7 hour workday :D
-
I'm not sure this is what you wanted to hear but I'm sure a lot of people here will agree with me.
Thinking.
Programming really rewires your brain to think differently. You don't get inherently smarter, but you do start to think very rationally, sometimes in a bad way. Suddenly everything has a reason which must be found and everything needs to have a predictable outcome. -
I use C++ a bit. I'm no expert but I can answer simple questions. Helps to test my knowledge too :D
-
@eeee That's a good point-er
-
Bash - Don't ^C Me Now
And of course the good ole
Rammstein - do, do class, do class if -
@alexbrooklyn now that's just unfair.
-
The annoying thing is that today 98% of the companies want it within like 2 weeks and "like the design x-competitor has" so it all boils down to shitty bloated apps with an annoying UX. There's a saying in my language - a tool that fits everything is a shitty tool.

Somehow I think working in a school would be pretty hilarious and fun. Students, who will find any reason to make fun of their teachers, students who are aspiring to learn IT so they come to you (I know I did) and teachers who... Well, you know.
-
A client we work with uses SkypeFB and in turn we have to use it too. It's pretty funny how in meetings they're all very understanding when someone's Skype crashes or the microphone isn't working.
-
And then when you're working with multiple systems - Windows with an SSH open, maybe a dual boot Linux, it gets even worse. "ctrl+c oh shit that just cancels a process, ctrl+insert wait that doesn't work outside a terminal, middle click that only works on windows ssh, right click, nope that only works on a Linux terminal AGGHHH" Why can't this shit be standardized?
