Today I was 25 years old, asking for a raise or a opportunity to reach the next level of my career.

My department manager simply said:
"I'm sorry, but in terms of salary you have already reached the end of your career."

Bye then :)

    What did they say when you bursted out laughing?

    @b2plane you have misunderstood revenge

    @b2plane kindly and with all due respect, fuck you.

    @b2plane

    Boy, are you in for a treat...

    Can't even manage your AWS costs and you want to run a company?

    🤔

    What do they mean by the end of your career? I feel sad to see people having to work for companies that have no future plans at all for their employees but unfortunately everyone needs a job

    I want to downvote the comment of @b2plane but I don‘t know if devRant will remove or hide it then.

    I smell sarcasm tbh 👀
  • 2
    @NoMad is that German "humour"?
  • 6
    If that's not a trigger to do something more of your life, I don't know what will be

    Good for you and fuck this guy @b2plane

    What did @b2plane say lol

    @chonky-quiche this

    to this day i don't understand why DR is not just hiding the text instead of the whole comment

    @Probabil if you want to read more about it: https://devrant.com/rants/7141346/...

    It‘s hard to be sympathetic with that guy on any topic of his other rants after reading this.

    @Lensflare i would have preffered not to read that, holy shit what a bitter and sad person.

    @thebiochemic I wonder why they took it down - seems like a normal @b2plane comment… can’t wait for his evil character arc lol

    @thebiochemic fr bro DR is dumb for hiding negative comments. This is now a suppression of free speech. DR decided to go down the route of pushing only 1 side of agenda, which makes this community no different than the news government and all of the corrupted individuals. This is sad to see because DR is definitely not like them. Whats the point of hiding downvoted comments ?

    Yeah I see the vote system as a way to agree or disagree. Or simply like or dislike. Hiding negative votes is completely idiotic. We have the report feature for that.

    @Lensflare that is the beginning of my villain arc. It is not who i am. It is who i was forced to become. Still in early stages so there's hope to fight back and not become a villain. Only 1 company is enough to behave normally and hire me and not fuck with my time and disrespect me -- and my villain arc will be canceled @chonky-quiche

    This manager is really out of touch if he/she thinks devs stop getting raise after 25. But even if that's what he/she thinks, saying it out loud like this dumb. Did he/she consult other people?
  • 0
    @Lensflare idk it works imho. A lot of hidden comments I've come across were just spam or stuff that - as @Probabil said - you're happy you don't have to read too
  • 1
    @Jedidja the comment is important for the overall discussion. When people answer to that comment or refer to it and it‘s not there anymore, the whole discussion makes no sense for anyone reading it later.
  • 0
    @Lensflare yeah but when it's offensive or straight up spam, do you really want others to be enraged as well?
  • 0
    @NoMad for that we have the report feature. Besides, you can always decide for yourself if you want to read a comment with negative votes.
  • 1
    @NoMad I would prefer if the comment was hidden but you could choose to show it. But that would require development effort so it's not gonna happen. Just automatically deleting comments is censorship.

    Besides spam and toxic comments, I've also seen reasonable comments on controversial topics get censored. Sometimes on both sides of the conversation. A downvote shouldn't mean a vote to censor the post. Then again, maybe it's intentional that discussions on controversial topics is discouraged here.

    @Lensflare I'm not convinced the report button does much at all. It maybe it too needs many people to press it for anything to happen. I've reported straight up spam and it's still there after years.
  • 2
    @electrineer I mean that’s what the report button supposed to do. If it doesn’t do it, it’s the problem of devRant again. Otherwise the argument is to abuse the voting system to do the report button‘s job.

    @gitpush that means that 41k/yr is maximum, there is no way I could ever get a promotion.

    @b2plane thx for igniting a discussion under my thread for more visibility/upvotes, have a cookie ^.^

    @mar-ehr

    Just be glad it wasn't derailed with literal shit...

    @mar-ehr that's sad unfortunately

    @Lensflare what an idiot. Going through all those experiences and learning absolutely nothing.
