				The influx of Microsoft shit is too much. Just set your settings correctly and you should be fine. Microsoft is about baby steps to handle everything.

				This is the part where you go into the settings and have "close lid does nothing" then tuck that bastard away, so you don't have to deal with it.

				@Sharky6
 just take xour time and go through the arch linux beginners guide step by step - it's really good and should be enough to have a basic setup at the end (if you don't have any special requirements).
 somewhere i should a have a step-by-step tut from my last install lying around ... *starts searching*

				Telling a windows user "Install Arch!", "Install Gentoo!", "Use i3 windows manager!"... heh. If that's the stuff you suggest to a newcomer, you'll chase them right back to Windows.

 If you're sick of Windows, just throw Mint, Ubuntu or Fedora on a machine, install all the tools you need to be productive, and use it for a month or two. Diehard linux fans will all have their opinions about which distro & desktop environment combination is the best, but if you start out you just need a simple solution which works reasonably well out of the box.

 Systems like Arch and Gentoo with i3 or xmonad are awesome, light and modular. But "can be customized" is often a bad feature when you need to finish up your feature branch before the end of the week...

				 zshulu3758y@bittersweet I agree, I would personally recommend Debian or Ubuntu depending on the requirement; however, the "Install Gentoo" thing is merely a common joke. zshulu3758y@bittersweet I agree, I would personally recommend Debian or Ubuntu depending on the requirement; however, the "Install Gentoo" thing is merely a common joke.
