@RazorSh4rk Hm...I just bought my Thinkpad exactly because of Linux and I have no idea what you're talking about. Works like a charm.
-
@ChibangLW try using a persistent live cd. If you use a light distro it could be usable especially with a nice USB drive thats small and good.
-
@YousifMansour The SSD is a NVMe drive and in some form of a RAID array. And this is not detected by the OS'. Windows also won't detect it out of the box.
-
Kimmax111068y@ChibangLW nvme should be swappable with some standard nvme. My intel ssd runs fine with Linux out of the box
-
@Kimmax I am not sure wether you can change the SSD on the miix 720 easily but I will look into it.
-
Florens4438yI was going to ask: can it run doom but then I reminded myself that everything can run doom.
-
@RazorSh4rk they can. You Just need images that have the uefi support. Some of them have 32 bit uefi for 64 bit cpu which is retarded. If you are using a small notebook linuxium is your answer (also fn+f12 for uefi boot) http://linuxiumcomau.blogspot.pt/20...

Me: Can it run Unreal Engine 4, Visual Studio and 10 Chrome tabs at the same time?
-
@pedro-abreu just got past the boot part without the 32-bit file, but now I need firmware for the wifi card so that installation follows through. There is never a smooth linux install
-
@pedro-abreu No, it booted and installed ubuntu mate 17.04 64-bit on my asus e200ha. Runs almost all good, except missing drivers for sound and internal wifi card which I think I found a solution for already. I'm still checking out the link tho
-
DonMcCoy5658y@deadlyRants and at the same moment you close the tab, you realize that you needed it.
-
@DonMcCoy That's what the tab restore, history feature and bookmarks are for.
I prefer a clear overview over saving a few seconds now and then. -
Those new Dell XPS laptops (well I guess not new new) run it pretty well. I bought one and for the most part it works. Track pad is funky though.

All these comments are the reason I live with the weight of my Alienware 17 R3

yusijs12508ySent that question to my job 2 months before I started (asked what laptop they bought me -> Lenovo P50 > check debian wiki for driver support > decent support > woop.

@pascal-dev well to clear up, I didn't want to ruin the punchline of the joke. But long story here goes: sure you can always get a linux OS operating if you don't need the wifi card to be working or if you don't need the sound to be working after a fresh install -> if that's what you call running linux. I am soon to regress to the previous kernel because of it
