When I only want to code, but university LaTeX bullshit burns my time 😭 they dont even have clear rules.
Not to mention that their formatting rules make my work look like shit I would never read myself.5 -
How do I go about taking up a job that I might only want to do temporarily but the company X may have a long(er) term expectation? I can't wrap my head around it.
Also the other company Y in which I am much more interested, but still didn't reply to my email after 2 days. So I am stalling with X before taking it up...
I hate this timing tactics. I feel like I am playing a strategy game.3 -
AI won't take our jobs. It will create possibilities we can't even imagine right now. We will work together with AI. Just in jobs we can't conceive right now.
Heck, do you think a programmer in the 70s would phantom that personal PCs would take his/her job? It just opened the possibility of programming to the masses :D1 -
Girl: you should download the bible.
Me: *Runs into the Vim Quick Reference app and downloads it instead*1 -
Didn't know how to program but enrolled in a master's degree that needed that. So I attended the programming courses of the bachelor's degree that gave me just enough knowledge and just in time to save my ass writing a Hadoop MapReduce program! And I actually did well. All Java though.
These days I am banging my head against the wall learning Rust.1 -
*installing linux on my mini laptop*
- Dad: "you should make a backup image of windows 10"
- Me: "LOL NOPE!"
(With 2gb of ram, linux makes it the perfect lightweight coding machine. But with W10? Jesus christ)6 -
Choosing a pc to buy.
- kids: "can it run minecraft?"
- casual gamers: "can it run overwatch?"
- serious gamers: "can it run witcher 3?"
- business people: "can it run several excel sheets?"
- me: "can it run linux?"48 -
I'm learning a new lang. Read all of the introductory guide. Have an algp to implement.
Suddenly I realize I suck at designing the implementation. Then I grab pen and paper and obssessively try to solve it all theoretically.
Or maybe I suck at this new lang? Who knows.2 -
How am I supposed to start learning pentesting / hacking when kali linux is shot down by the devRant community?
Yes, I would rather start with some source that would get me writing code to do it, I just don't know which is it. Maybe sourceforge?5 -
Never been to one.. but I think I should.. if I don't find one near me, there's always websites like pluralsight

Machine learning algorithm with 20 threads. Machine is like: "bitch please" (and runs the algo clean until the end)
Increase parameter to 40 threads. NullPointerExceptions. NullPointerExceptions everywhere.4 -
Oh god! Why did I change to Ubuntu!!! This machine is running hotter and slower!!! Battery drains faster than ever!
There's no going back to windows 10... looking back, I love windows 10 despite its faults :')
Did anyone else experience the same? First thing I'm doing in the morning is install arch linux10 -
Does anyone know an easy to use server to run a java algorithm? Like I'm a total noob yet and I need something where I unzip the src folder and I get it up and running. Terminal use is ok. Each run takes me 8 hours and I need workforce...
I want my computer back for my personal projects :/2 -
I am so glad I found a way to compile c++ for personal projects without using MS VS. Time to relieve my machine from this burden :D14

Today I was working in a university studyspace. Some girl noticed my dark theme IDE, running some tests and such and assumed that I'm a computer guru. She then asked me if I could help her with MS Excel or MS Word. To which I answered "sorry, no". She might've just been trying to start something with me, but that was a deal breaker hahaha (seriously tho, if I were in a better mood I would have helped her)8

If the code is running, then it must be doing what I want. Right guys? Is it normal to be this paranoid even after lots of runs of the code without crashing?2

Today I am venting with a text I sent to my friend and colleague:
"Awh fuck when I tried to get all the pieces together - migration and elitism - there were bugs everywhere, even from places I thought I had sorted out. BUGS, BUGS never die! 🐛🐜🕷🐛🐞" -
I was struggling to make advancements in my task because I was so oriented by the "more code means more work done"... I wasn't producing at all. Now that I grabbed a notebook and a pen and started to think things through, things are finally rolling. Sometimes it's 90% thinking and 10% coding. In addition to that, I can't even write spagetti code after getting a solid concept written in pen. I just hate that I spend so much time thinking until something good comes up. But hey now it's rollinnnnnn.undefined pen productivity less is more notebook efficient implementations mean more puzzles work smart not hard4

That moment when the other programmer left you a great groundwork, and you just feel like a freerider and not satisfied with whatever you did on it... :(2
