So I decided to try a vpn. I got the protonvpn free service. I can see that it changed my ip address. But can I tell if it is encrypting traffic? All the websites I accessed didn't seem to care my location went from the USA to some place in Asia. I would have thought it would force a relogin or look suspicious.

It is wild. reddit rejects tor, but is okay with vpn?

    Nah reddit also doesn't like VPN they are a cuck site after all

    @BordedDev weird, reddit isn't complaining. I checked with a leak checker and it isn't leaking anything.

    @BordedDev so i reconnected and it went through netherlands. Reddit popped up and asked GDPR related stuff. But otherwise worked the same.

    On my mullvad one it cucks out (but that has only been since they changed their retarded policy)

    Probably depends on cookies or site data or something like that. Also, on the service's designer being paranoid... or !really caring. I've seen both behaviors. The one where things just work as they used to, && the things _freaking out_ because of the new location. LastPass && Google e-mails belong to the latter section.

    @Lensflare what do you mean about proton vpn free service? I only said proton vpn free service once. If it was an ad I would be saying proton vpn free service in every sentence.

    Fun fact, it's quite easy to make your own VPN using TUN. Just a fun fact. At least in Linux it's very doable. Maybe fun to get into.
