trough of disillusionment time!
short the AI companies! (j/k idk how to time that) -
retoor6381dThe best article that I've ever read regarding the subject. Everything is 100% accurate. Low effort is just never rewarded and especially not for vibe coding. Good vibe coding takes a lot of time and preparation but if done right, it will generate you weeks of work in minutes. So, it makes a lot of sense to spend many, many hours on the prompting and really think about how to do it. You must take it as seriously as you did programming. `Vibe` coding is actually freaking amazing if you're not a lazy bastard and actually have knowledge and strong opinion how stuff must be done. LLM's are for me, basically just a typer and my visual designer. There are many ways to rome, so you should pick one yourself and give it to the LLM. If it picks itself, it will take the wrong one for sure. But it always looks nice, because visually they're quite good. Fact is, those thing don't care what they make, so you have the one that cares. And if you don't, you have two idiots working together.

retoor6381dIt's just too much used for people who don't want to do effort and they get what they deserve. The results are extreme for the effort you put into it by default. So, imagine doing some effort. Also, as the article mentions, you have to be able to do the last 5% (even more in the end). And normies can't do that because programming is a freaking profession. It's just not what people wanted it to be. People wanted magic, and it's just not. It's just the most amazing build tool and auto completer ever made. i could write a whole book about it after almost a year full time study on it. I studied how to get exactly my results in technical sense. With a real goal. My goal was the source code, not the application itself. I just like to code / be the architect. Getting unexpected results of LLM can happen, but mainly, skill and effort issue. For the normies, vibing is maybe over, but for the professional world, we're just getting starting, we're nowhere yet.

@retoor I do agree that vibe coding is quite nice if prompted well and only if done by a senior dev.
But I am also worried about the new era of devs. You learn best practices by reading the docs, reading blogs, getting feedback from seniors, ... Now AI creates good looking code. Most of my coding skills is reading the docs for feature X and see that unrelated feature Y is mentioned in the docs and then use feature Y later in the project. I don't think this is being rewarded by vibe coding. -
@jestdotty guys no this is very bad news. They put everybody's money into that IA shit and now it's gonna burst in our faces worst than 2008. I hope you have savings. Things are about to go nuts. You just wait.
