What OS do you guys use? What do you like/hate about it?

It's got the compability, doesn't need much work to set up, but otherwise is annoying as hell.

Looking forward to switch over to Linux again soon, but not sure what distro I want yet.

love: the package manager, all that linux stuff like configuration, custom wms, the terminal.
hate: packages that are only available for aur or apt and not as a rpm

Xubuntu.

I like that I can have it up and running super quick. I already left behind the young-self need to tweak every minor detail of my system, I don't have time for that shit anymore. Also I've been attached to apt for too long now to switch to another package manager.

I don't like it looks old. I mean, is effective but looks like I'm still in 2002.

I use windows, i love how compatible everything in existence is with it and i hate the fact that windows 10 is a hunk of shit, it started of good... but every update appears to be a step backwards every time and becoming more unstable.

Windows. Windows update changing/adding privacy settings is getting really annoying though...

Linux mint w/ cinnamon. Love the eyecandy and stability, linux toolset is something I can't survive without, no mysterious/magic stuff happening to annoy me. It just works.

The drawback... Umm.. Systemd. And a lack of ability to reliably encrypt [luks] partitions w/o losing data.

Antergos with GNOME. Pretty stable, no problems yet. Been using for sometime now. Being able to use AUR 🕺

KDE neon.

Hate that it will be gone in less than 2 years... Time catches up to all of us. I only wished that I spent more time with it back in its glory days instead of wasting my time on one meaningless night stands with those promiscuous Linux distros... Can anyone feel my pain? Can anyone feel my sorrow?

Windows 10 with the Ubuntu bash for lots of dev stuff... but actually I would love win7 + bash cause I hate the inconsistencies in win 10 and except the bash it hasn't brought much good stuff..

Windows 10: I hate design inconsistency due to legacy UIs, closed-sourceness and hardware makers that break your system with half assed drivers.

Debian: best distro logo. I fucking hate when something breaks and it takes me a day to fix it.

Cons: haven’t discovered those yet myself.

Been using Fedora for about 16 years now. The last other OS i used was Microsoft ® Windows ® XP Professional. Have dabbled a little in Arch (ducks for cover), Debian et. al and even FreeBSD. Main os is Rawhide installed on my Dell Inspiron, which i use for everything from Music production to coding Android apps and building my web projects. Even made a music video on it. For interoperability with muggles, I keep an Office 2007 install on Wine handy.

@Snatched Right? I mean some of the system settings still haven’t been updated to have the current styling, and it’s been out for years. You could try dual boot and take advantage of each OSs strengths, in theory...

Windows for home and gaming

Windows 10.
Like: most things are plug'n'play, music software works great, games, pretty intuitive in the most parts
Dislike: 2 different control panels, slow search, registry is a mess, permissions are also a mess, dont care that much for most of the layout

Windows on my gaming machine, Ubuntu at work and macOS on my private laptop. There are pros and cons to all of the systems, but to be honest I enjoy Windows the least. It just doesn't feel right working without terminal or vim installed by default. After working on Ubuntu and macOS for a while I really started feeling like Windows is too bloated with useless crap and UIs for everything that I can just do 10x faster through the terminal. On the other hand I can't imagine gaming on anything other than Windows. All games just work without any problems and that's exactly what I need after a long day at work :D

In the end any OS is just a tool and there are use cases for all the tools. You wouldn't drill a hole with a hammer.

@Tayo i'm too noob for this, how you will do this ? Something like katoolin for arch ? 😓

@DuckDuckWent Only if you don't follow the wiki carefully. It's actually pretty easy. The only problem I had the first time was setting up the partitions in the commandline, but that was just me being dump.

You definitively need to familiarize yourself with the command line do pull it of. You learn a lot in the process, don't expect to be ready to go in half an hour the first time you do it though.

@DuckDuckWent I gave up most of it but I still like to occasionally play League. And I keep windows for a few other programms aswell as dual boot.
