I have this theory that (most of) tech people (software engineers, developers, devops, etc) are very ok with a working regular smartphone as opposed to non-tech people.
I'm talking like, money not being an issue, we are cool with a Xiaomi or OPPO, etc. As other people feel the need to go for the latest and more expensive iPhone or Samsung.
So, WDYT?
PS: I'm still rocking my Xiaomi Mi A1, it's still performant for what I need it.10 -
We study a lot to learn how to write code and the most satisfying thing in this profession is to delete code.3

Does anyone have an OS project I can collaborate for this hacktoberfest?
Does any open source project work or there are some specific?2 -
Almost three years with the same salary. And my LinkedIn inbox full.
I'm really starting to think about going for a change...8 -
Hello fellow ranters!
I've been away for a while.
I hope everything and every one here is safe and well.
What's new?3 -
I haven't ranted since I joined my current job back in late 2018 because I've been in absolute bliss, extremely happy and feeling in the right place.
...And now here I am: due to some corporate shit we had to migrate from Slack to Teams and man TEAMS IS A SHIT.11 -

I started this job in December.
I am very happy at the moment.
Company culture is great, organization is excellent and workmates are very smart and friendly.2 -
I'm looking for a game recommendation to play with my (non-gamer) dad
What I'm looking for:
- Android
- Online 1vs1
- Turn based (async)
- Simple
- Free
- Lightweight if possible (my dad's phone is kind of old).
Something like checkers or chess but not checkers or chess :)8 -
Hello dev-fellas.
A cousin of mine is a craftswoman.
She wants to set up an online store that she can manage.
Which tech is the best/easiest today to set up that?
Prestashop? Shopify? WordPress with any plugin?
Thanks6 -
Today in annoying customers:
"I will not update the requirements with every single detail of our discussions, it will be quite tedious"
Way to go, lady.2 -
In other news:
I've been notified that my new working visa is ready so I can start to work with the new company that offered me an overall-better job position.
Yay! -
Boss: Hey, remember the module due to Friday?
Me: yes...
Boss: the deadline was moved.
Me: (good news?) Ok, when is it due now?
Boss: tomorrow.
Me: ...6 -
Well I ended my interviews-adventure finally.
Applied for three companies:
- KindOfBigCompany
- BiggestCompany
- BiggestCompany2
I failed in the last two. But got the job in the first one.
The bittersweet sensation is that I got the job in the first one first and then got rejected by the other two so my last feeling is the rejection one. And I really liked BiggestCompany2.
BUT KindOfBigCompany is actually really cool and has a lot of benefits and also I'll earn much more than I currently am so I guess Happy Ending after all :D5 -
Rewriting the query for the fifth time because the other four I thought were the last time I was gonna need it.2

Construction work at the office today.
Drill and hammer noises extremely loud.
I put my music volume up, but every time the drill stops I think I'm going to go deaf.2 -
Hello devRant fellows, I have a question for those who avoid Google products...
What are your main motivation behind the decision of not using any (or almost any) Google product?
Respectful-for-everyone analogy:
Google is meat, you are a vegan and your non-vegan friend asked you why to start being vegan?
I'm going to highlight the word -friend- because I'm looking for constructive, argumentative, educational and respectful answers.30 -
Three days thinking of a solution to a problem in HackerRank...
Came up with a very elegant O(n+m) solution... failing several test cases...
Check here, there, over there. Everything seems flawless...
Re-read the problem statement letter by letter. There it is, I misread the requirement. FML8 -
There was a rant here from someone about being let down by the people that hired them...
I was commenting but the rant was deleted.
I feel you friend. Leave to another place where you're trusted and valued. -
Things I understand but still hate #457:
"You must restart this _application or OS_ for changes to apply."1 -
Does anyone here knows (first hand) how long does it take the entire hiring process at Google in Europe?
From the first contact to the offer?
Thanks a lot6 -
Yesterday: "This fucking logic makes no sense. I can't work this shit out!"
Today (first look at the problem): "Oh... I think if I do this and this... Yeap, that'd work"
I love fresh brain thoughts in the morning.8
