someone who was very sad and depressed for a really long time suddenly feels a lot better, cheerful and friendly?
They're suicidal. They made the decision, and they're happy that the end is in sight.

evidently my bf did that when he got with me. his friends kept dropping how much happier he seemed now

so I don't know about that exclusively

sometimes people suck and you just meet people that don't, and you can vibe, so life gets better

This happens to me in irregular intervals. I'm not suicidal. It's a manic depression, or something alike, whichever my doctor said.

    Or bipolar

@Ranchonyx wtf? You're bipolar too? Manic depression is another name for bipolar disorder

I'm on Lamotrigine 300mg, Quetiapine 300mg, Fluvoxamine 200mg and Hydroxizine 50mg. If your therapy fails you, this scheme I and like 8 different doctors nailed down over the course of 8 years can serve as a good baseline. I have Bipolar type 1, which is the most severe one.

But I hope you have access to good medical care given that you live in the country I desperately want to move to.

@netikras …in which case it means that depression ended and [hypo]mania began, e.g. THE suicide period for bipolar patients.

@kiki looks similar, causality is different

@netikras in bipolar patients, that's usually the reason. But not everyone who behaved like what I initially described was bipolar, that's for sure

Occasionally, I wonder if I stress my friends out when I had some good rest (I have to finish the thing... FUCK it's 2am kinda person) and I'm a lot more positive
