I guess in other words I'm trying to understand what is more important when project ideas are considered for development, the technical considerations, time and effort, or the final result/end user/profit..
-
We like swag stickers?
-
Developer imposter syndrom?
-
Savage!!! 😱
-
@shelby sorry to read that :( but sounds like this situation can't go on for ever, at some point you'll burnout.. better to find a different job before the inevitable happens :)
Try looking for a job for companies with HQ in other countries, i worked in the past with devs from india, the work was super breezy without any stress, and the interview was also not something that required any prep.
Just want you to know there are good options out there, stay positive, and good luck! -
Should we tell him?
-
@lambda123 i hated js, until async-await was added and it finally started looking like a normal programming lang. So it's not bad now. With TS its looking even more like typical typed language
-
Just fyi... Async await is nothing but a syntetic sugar that wraps a promise and allows different type of syntax.. the kind people can easily read, so there's no "missing" functionality when switching..
But I feel like all this anger is really about something else, all good there? 🙃 -
Warning: Division by zero on line 1

@Stuxnet do you refer to pixel 6 phone?
(Didn't try it there) but my initial guess would be that its constantly listening? Where what impresses me with Shazam is how fast it finds the song without the "head start". ..maybe it's constantly listening too😆 -
Machines learning from humans

Lol

@electrineer every team and what works for it.. just speaking about my current situation.
But I'm not a big fan of those positions who turn 1 person into an entire development team and call it full stack. -
Zero technical product or planning.. yes, lets let the devs do the architecture planning now
Bad product .. yes lets involve devs in product meetings
Bad ui design workflow.. yes let the devs work together with the designers
No work coordination between teams or any logic work assignment.. whats the problem.. just talk to the other devs and coordinate yourself
Bad code.. no coding standards.. we are not coding anymore.. you should do code reviews for each other
THEN WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PURPOSE??? -
@Demolishun never made mobile apps, but reading comments, makes me never want to 😆
At least if you make a website there's not a public list of bugs posted for eternity for everyone to see next to the site 🙈 -
@N00bPancakes yeah i know what u mean, there is a place for honest feedback, also fresh eyes are always good. But this was not even said to me, just next to me.. like u know how it is, dev team busts their ass, grinding everyday for years, sprint after sprint.. then some fresh boi with 2 days in the business starts telling during lunch time how this and that is wrong and all the great ideas he has, makes the devs look bad, i find it very disrespectful. If that page is so slow, it might be because this code is old legacy that we need to deal with everyday and cant get rid of.. like we know its slow.. if we didnt implement that "brilliant feature", it's not cause we are stupid, it's cause there are priorities and we implemented 100000 other features in the meantime..
Aghh.. at least i can let it out here -
@justamuslimguy experienced both cases, where tech lead makes product and design decisions, and when designer makes design, and product makes product decisoins and the tech lead becomes their little puppy with no control over the technological aspect, doing idiotic stuff, cuz thats what the product wants.. and product isnt aware of implications of his requests, not aware of making a plan for architecture of big features.. just do this.. then that.. designer doesn't understand that u make a theme and then reuse it.. just invents new buttons every 2 weeks for fun.. and the code is a fucking disaster.
IMO, a tech lead should make the final decisions on the sub components that together make up the whole solution.
HOWEVER, the tech lead should have the experience and understanding, of all the fields he takes charge over.
I dont expect designer or product to know how code works, (i Wish!).. i do however expect a GOOD tech leads to understand some basic ui/ux best practices. -
THANK YOU!!
Believe it or not it was a class dealing with sql (orm) inside of a.. wait for it....framework -
@wiwe2210 this deserves its own post man!
-
@Qwby yes, I'm also devising a list of questions that I'm going to ask next time.
Thinking of staying away from anything that was written more than 3 years ago either way..
I'm not interested in maintaining some legacy code with new features that a brainless monkey can add.. I'm here for fucking creating new things, and solve real problems -
Haven't noticed difference
-
@vocuzi wow! Thanks for sharing
-
God damnit!
-
Damn user not active... #foreveralone
Ok how about @nouser -
@sudo hi 😜
-
@mr-user wow 😂
Thanks!! I guess that's it guys.. im switching careers to photoshop engineer (fullstack)
🤑🤑🤑 -
I considered that it was video before, but then the actor needs to type/click at the right time.. its not worth the effort..
The animation on key press sounds a bit more realistic
Having a hard time believing that those are real html pages.. maybe the "google searches" for zoomed in shoot, are.. but did anyone ever hear about devs doing sites for movies?
I actually thought it was green screen.. but yes with camera movement i do see how that might make it harder.. although i have zero knowledge in that..
It's just such a big part of many shows/movies.. not sure how it's not widely known how it's done 😕 -
@hardfault no idea.. Im just a web developer.. but ppl smarter than me joked that this should do the trick
-
@hardfault yes yes.. and to terraform mars..ya know, heat it up a bit
-
I don't believe in bosses being friends with their employees... Its an illusion that at some point will hurt the employee/employer.. and those who are real friends, probably not really doing their job as managers and acting more like coworkers (but with bigger paycheck than u).
U can be friendly and kind.. but what happens when u have no choice but to fire ur employee? What happens when ur employee friend ends up being awful at their job and causes damage to your product? What happens when ur employee wants a raise and u cant give it? What happens when ur employee exploits ur friendship? What happens when u invest so much care and effort into ur employee but the moment u no longer work together, he never bothers to contact u again to see u ok?
There's a wall, and it's a good thing for both side to be aware of it.
