I don't wanna work 😭. My company is making me work like a donkey. I have to commute for a total of 4 hours (to and fro). I get hella tired when i reach home. I don't have any energy or life. I feel lifeless and everything makes me irritated. They are paying me $5300 in a year( i am from india) with a bond. It just seems like they are exploiting me. 😭 I can concentrate on preparing for DSA and make projects in order to switch my job. I just can't keep working, working and working at the same place with the same people inside the same cubicle. I feel so fucking irritated, lifeless and sleep deprived. They are recruiting freshers and paying more salary to them who doesn't even know how to code! And here i have been working straight for 1 year(including internship) with very good feedbacks from everyone. When i asked if i could get wfh permanently, manager said no but at the same time gave permanent wfh to the other team member having much greater experience. I feel so so sad. I finish all my work on time no matter where i am and always gets good feedback. 😭

    @shelby switch jobs if you can find something better. The commute should either be paid for by the company, or you need to find something closer if that's possible. Otherwise: move.

    I mean, there's only 24 hours a day.
    If you sleep for 8 and work for 8, you can't possibly unwind in 4 hours if i 4 is spent commuting

    @Hazarth they don't pay. How do I prepare for interviews with a full time job? Solving 500 leetcode problems and projects will take time and i get so tired, i don't have any energy left to study. I only have weekends.

    @shelby you don't need to be perfect on an interview. Honestly I never prepared for an interview. If you trust your skills (which you should) then you'll be fine. But this job is just keeping you back at this point

    Heads up I'm american... What am I missing here? 5300 Indian rupee is about 70 usd (rounded). For a year's worth of work? I know companies pay way more than that when we hire outsourced. So what am I missing?

    @shelby sorry to read that :( but sounds like this situation can't go on for ever, at some point you'll burnout.. better to find a different job before the inevitable happens :)
    Try looking for a job for companies with HQ in other countries, i worked in the past with devs from india, the work was super breezy without any stress, and the interview was also not something that required any prep.
    Just want you to know there are good options out there, stay positive, and good luck!

    @demortes it's 4 lakh rupees per annum. less than 5300 in dollars if we convert it

    @vortex thanks! I will look for HQ companies. I am looking for companies who hire without whiteboard interviews otherwise i have to grind 500 leetcode questions which i don't have time for as of now. :(

    Could you please tell me your stack?

    I recently switched my job, as I too was going through the same. But there was no bond. I was barely getting time to prepare, but yeah, I kept grinding and was able to land an international offer.

    @lassiecoder Wow! Really inspiring. Tech stack I have worked with is MEAN. Currently, I'm working in ios development. Have also worked with NativeScript. I am proficient in java too. Can you tell me how you managed your time and your griding strategy? It will really be helpful.

    Sure, On the weekend there was only one job. Applying, applying and applying.

    I'll tell you why,

    Let's say you applied for 10 positions today, and you'll get revert from 2-3. So try to apply for more and more positions.

    I was applying through LinkedIn and AngelList. I made a good resume (not more than 2 pages). Just highlight your projects and skills there. It's obviously not a place to write 10 liner essays.

    During the interview processes, I explained my struggle to the interviewers. And few of them understood and neglected the assignment process, and took live coding sessions directly.

    And based on all that, I got 3 offers from really good product based companies. And joined one this month. :)

    Coding session was all about making changes based on best user experience.

    Few coding rounds for JS that’s also kinda Leetcode easy, or easier if you're good with basic concepts.

    start applying for other stuff. If you wait until you can nail the silicon valley level technical interview that some shitty mobile carrier or life insurance company wants, you'll never be ready.

    Your work situation sounds very unhealthy. It might be worth considering seeing what else you can do closer to home. Even if not a coding gig, take something that gets a bit money in your pocket while you up skill. Your existing experience will count for more than you think
