Some caffeine fueled morning passion...
Social media platforms getting away with suspensions and all other manner of 'social punishment' has to be the highest level authoritarianism has ever reached in its entire history. Social Media platforms, have it seems, become a side gig for tyrants and the excuses don't cut it with people anymore.
It's hard to believe that "we the people" allow companies to govern over entire populations of people, much larger than some of the most democratic and free countries on the planet with an iron fist.
The enforcement of community standards for breaking arbitrary rules that wouldn't make it to a solicitors desk is extraordinary in the extreme. If it's not a credible threat or illegal, then it's obvious an intention behind the punishment is conditioning.
And this is what authoritarian regimes have done throughout history.14 -
So, I had to listen very badly in a scrum about my poor code quality. Just because I haven't used the latest version of the library in my gradle build file, I haven't used DTO in the response of few endpoints in the controller class instead I used entity,... Etc was the mistake.
I admit that I have a long way to improve myself and there is a lot to learn, but there should be a proper way to escalate the situation rather than publicly pointing out mistakes rudely.
He is a senior with 10+ years of experience who badly told me in the scrum and not only that whenever there is a change needed in my PR he takes the screenshot and puts it in our dev team group and shows the mistakes and gives the suggestions instead of writing comments on the github PR.
Not only that, if I inform in the daily updates that I took 2 hours for this and that task, he says it should be done in 20 to 30 minutes.
Upper management has given him a lot of respect because he is knowledgeable and knows the stuff but it doesn't mean he is entitled to behave like this and demoralise other juniors.
The matter is cool now but this incident happened to me a few months back and those days were really toxic for me at work.6 -
Does anyone else think that Vscode is becoming a bit bloated ?
I have been using vscode for the past 4 years ,but over the last 2 years , I am noticing performance degradations as they keep on adding more features. I use minimal amount of extensions but still auto complete suggestions or auto import suggestions take a lot of time.
I tried out Sublime last week for a day and it was so much faster than vscode. Granted , vscode is convenient but I genuinely feel there needs to be another alternative to vscode or a less bloated version of it.6 -
I personally don’t mind the wave of “back to the office” as long as transports costs are added to my income and I can start 1h30 later and leave 1h30 earlier.10

Fucking hell! Why can‘t I block notifications for a specific conversation thread for a limited amount of time in Teams? I get spammed with shit that I don‘t care about but when I block it now, I will forget to unblock it later. 😡4

Add-on signing is censorship in disguise.
Imagine Google could remotely delete YouTube videos you downloaded, to "keep you safe" from the "bad content". Well, Google and Mozilla can remotely disable extensions you installed using their pre-installed trojan horse called "add-on signing".
Always remember, whenever a corporation cites "for your protection", consider it synonymous with "so we can control you more".12 -
Ended my day today standing in my kitchen trying to cool down after having to deploy unfinished work that has not been properly tested because the business forced us to deploy it. So frustrated and angry.3

VSCode's file watcher doesn't fucking work though, you self-important pricks. This attitude specifically is why I hate corporate software. "This is difficult, so you should use our solution." Why is the assumption that you fuck up less than the rest of the community?15

If software you’re trying to use doesn’t have at least 500 lines bash install script downloaded directly from internet and piped into your machine it’s not software meant for developers.6

It finally happened. One of our junior devs pushed a secrets file to their git branch and now I have to reset ALL THEIR CREDENTIALS. "git add ." will be the death of me.19
