In FL Studio there is now a "VFX Script" plugin for using Python to program things like midi or automation. Been trying to find a way to set up syntax hilighting in Pycharm to be a bit easier to work with but it looks like their internal python library is private...

Even more annoying when they do have filters but job posters are disrespectful and just add all the things to get visibility.
No, a job in Javascript/nodejs is not a job in Java with Spring framework.
No, a job that is "remote" but requires you to live within driving distance is not "remote".
No, hybrid is NOT "remote".
So much no... -
@hjk101 In this case they push things through without addressing concerns in code review because it "needs to get out quickly." So this is a case of ignoring quality specifically for speed.
Definitely are times when we can have both! But this is not it. -
Who knew replacing what they don't understand, with more things they don't understand, would cause problems they don't understand?
-
Seems pretty common in my experience. The amount of folks that jump directly into asking others for help after trying literally nothing themselves is astonishingly high.
-
@Lensflare Maybe for a different poll.
-
@djsumdog Would it have been different if you did not have to be compatible with Docker?
-
@donkulator As opposed to a ticket lacking enough requirements to do anything at all, and whatever you do is going to be wrong because you always pick the lottery of incorrect answers?
If there is no definite requirement for a task, the work will never be good enough. Not sure how that can be better than a clear-cut ticket with a clear defined ask. -
@jestdotty Sometimes. But often it results in more questions and the story is more confusing.
-
@BordedDev I did use soap when I cleaned it. There is no sticky, I just can't help but pause to check all the time. I hate the feeling of sticky.
-
@retoor And what if I say "I'm going to implement Y because X." and management says "Just do Z for now and put Y in the backlog for later." in which case that literally never happens? Or when I put up a merge request and it gets ignored for over a year until someone questions why something is still broken?
-
@whimsical This case is more like someone unclogging a sink only to have the apartment downstairs suddenly flooding. So they have to unblock the downstairs apartment too which then causes three more floors down to flood. Meanwhile the original issue wasn't even a plugged sink at all. So the "Bugfix" wasn't a fix, it was unblocking a poorly designed system that is now unable to be fixed at all.

@hjk101 I understand the words I use, and I use them appropriately.
-
@djsumdog I came here for this comment.
-
@Lensflare Wish that was an option.
-
@Lensflare Coverage won't go up if you test a mock because none of the actual code is being tested.
-
Vibe marketing would probably be a more beneficial use of "AI" than coding.

I think more and more that I'd like to eventually move to being a musician. Kind of waiting to see how things go.
