Ubuntu - gives me the best developer experience I've had so far.

To be honest, PHP isn't going anywhere anytime soon. With the improved performance and security features that come with with PHP 7+ & all the popular PHP frameworks & Content Management Systems out there, it's only going to get even more popular.

I relate so much fam!! I'm an intern and I'm currently building a system that should be used by the 10,000+ employees who work in this company. I'm enjoying the work because I love writing code, but I wish I could get more experience working on currently implemented systems and in teams. Solo work is great, but it teaches me nothing about teamwork. Nonetheless, I'm still pushing code to GitHub, creating issues and closing them, as I try to do my best to learn tools required for teamwork.

@aviophile yeah typo. And yeah, I agree. That's why I'm choosing to focus on my entrepreneurial journey moving forward.

@C0D4 I'm impressed @linuxxx I definitely started this post with rookie numbers. I don't even know what to say regarding 150K+... Rantimus Prime?
-
@C0D4 Haha I can't believe you've hit 60K+
-
@iiii riiiight, I kinda see it now
-
@NoMad 31K!! I'm mind-blown
-
@SuspiciousBug there isn't any reinventing. To be honest I'm actually surprised by how much PHP has evolved to better cater for so many use-cases e.g. auth.
Performance wise it's holding up pretty well. It's an internal application that does very little, so there was no need for heavy tools. -
@HiFiWiFiSciFi lol

Why is no one asking? What tf is "nationality X"?
-
@PonySlaystation welp!
-
@EmberQuill just got a text telling me the system "is urgently required". Remember that what I have is a prototype, that doesn't meet any of the actual requirements & still needs to be re-developed using open source technologies.

@AleCx04 thanks for suggesting The Cherno. He's brilliant/ Currently hooked.
-
@Voxera thanks for the advice. I'm definitely working on it. I'm currently on internship, which pays poorly, but I'm using this opportunity to look for other better paying jobs. As for documenting my work and putting it out there, I'm currently working on it. Fingers crossed 2021 is better!

@AlmondSauce see my response to @Fast-Nop

@Fast-Nop i actually think the cloud could solve most of the company's problems. the staff required to maintain an in-house data center is more significant that the staff required to maintain cloud infrastructure. expertise is necessary in both, but the costs are not comparable.
