They tought us this at school. You have "wrong" opinion -> say goodbye to your job, school for your children, traveling abroad... USSR practices. I hate those moralists.
-
Same problem here...
Me: Hey, I've got home office tommorow.
Her: You have a day off? Nice you can clean the house, repair xxx, do xxxx.....
Me: No, I am working normally. I will just sit home and not in office.
Her: Aha, ok.
When she comes home:
Her: Hey, you did nothing of the things I told you! Instead you are sitting with the computer here!
Me: @#$!$!#!@@!$!#!@@ -
Man, thats a dream job :)
-
As a person who knows something about networks, I think this question is completely valid :) .
-
It is not punishment for computer student. Just a challenge :D. Fire up vpn (use port 443 if they block VPNs too).
-
My favourite is Perl. Very handy language for sysadmins.
-
@devaalok Thanks for the support :)

@devaalok
My boss actually wants me to finish the school but will support me if I decide otherwise. It is like you said. I want to prove that I do not need degree to be good in this industry. -
I am considering quiting university too now. I have at least Bc. degree, but I can't take that anymore. I work part-time now and the boss told me that he would give me full-time contract if I quit but would be happier if I stay. So what now :/ ?
-
They'll ask you anyway, despite they don't know you work in IT :D
-
Same with my ssh. 15 - 90 unique IPs banned daily even there is no password auth.
-
Just read few moments ago that one of our local ISPs hijacked http connections. Please use https :)
-
@linuxxx I would recommend Youtube adAway for example.
-
@romangraef
Yes it is. It was released recently :) -
Firefox can synchronize everything too. I am using the synchronization few years without a problem. Also now you can send unread pages to your paired device (it is called Firefox Send I think).
-
As a sysadmin I write mostly in Perl. I wouldn't write web with it but it is one of the best and most usefull language for me.
-
When I saw regex first I was terrifed by it :D . But now I love it.
-
I am using Firefox everywhere. Now I am running Firefox beta (57). This will be huge while it gets released.
-
Many scientists say that the time actually does not exists. So the answer seems legit to me :D
-
@C0D4 I get it that there can be features available for Windows only that some users need. Gaming is without discussion. But you say windows has better networking features? In which way?
-
I see I am the lucky one here. My ISP gives me internet plug only (not firewalled) and it is my responsibility what I do at home with it.
-
Perl: You can't tell in which mood she is because she makes regular expression only.
-
I think it is good idea to deploy https even on small sites. Lets Encrypt automates the stuff so much it is only matter of few minutes with no maintanance. There are few risks when using http. ISP injecting ads, spying on your history (most common on public hotspots, some free VPN services). Also there can be delivered exploits by changing the content of the site (MitM on local network or somewhere enroute). So it is not exactly for safety of your customer but for safety of website visitors.
-
Same with me. Smoking it for more than year.
-
The FB site is quite heavy. I hate it when it lags my low end computer badly when I want to just chat. There are 3rd party messenger apps available so I would suggest you to search for some.
-
@aayusharyan It depends. The encryption password can't be changed without knowing it (unlike your login password). But we have backups right :) ?
-
I was replying on physical access. I know that you can boot live cd or get root access via grub and do what you want with the OS. But I don't know how you can achieve that when there is full drive encryption.
When you get somehow into OS while running than encryption won't save you much. But I don't know how physical access will help you in this scenario. -
@CSaratakij What if I have encrypted hard drive :) ?
-
Stick with best practices. Disable services you don't use and secure that you use. Setting up iptables should help you too. Update regularly and be cautious when you install non-repository software.

Here. Me and my colleague (Vim).
