@GodHatesMe nothing about Perl makes it not suitable for web development and ancient has nothing to do with it, the language keeps being updated.

I program for the web exclusively in perl. It might not be standard or cool, but it's goddamned fast, and works brilliantly.

As a sysadmin I write mostly in Perl. I wouldn't write web with it but it is one of the best and most usefull language for me.
