🤔 If developers were linguists...
Person 1: How do you say "????" in Italian?
Person 2: Why don't you use Japanese? It's a much better language.6 -

It was my first ever hackathon. Initially, I registered with my friend who is a non coder but want to experience the thrill of joining a hackathon. But when we arrived at the event, someone older than us was added to our team because he was solo at that time. Eventually, this old guy (not too old, around his 20s) ( and let’s call him A) and I got close.
We chose the problem where one is tasked to create an ML model that can predict the phenotype of a plant based on genotypic data. Before the event, I didn’t have any background in machine learning, but A was so kind to teach me.
I learned key terms in ML, was able to train different models, and we ended up using my models as the final product. Though the highest accuracy I got for one of my model was 52%, but it didn’t discouraged me.
We didn’t won, however. But it was a great first time experience for me.
Also, he gave me an idea in pitching, because he was also taking MS in Data Science ( I think ) and he had a great background in sales as well, so yeah I got that too.2 -
WHAT THAT FUCK
I PLUGGED IN MY LAPTOP CHARGER TO THE WALL AND A HUGE SPARK APPEARED AND THE ENTIRE ELECTRICITY OF THE HOUSE FELL7 -
My first hackathon when I was in my university. I never used to work on any side projects apart from assignments and academic projects. I was so shocked when I saw that people were so dedicated in developing a working product in a weekend sacrificing sleep and food. I got so depressed that I wasn't doing anything and people around me were doing so much!!!!! That's when I was motivated to learn more, do more, work more. After this, I never missed a single hackathon while I was studying :) I'm so much better at what I do now because of hackathons.

Dear Marketing Guy,
You had no right to manipulate the perfectly working "WordPress" site, but since you have done it by injecting a script you found on the internet in functions.php, It is now my unpaid job to fix this mess.
Yours truly,
Underpaid Developer
P.S. Fuck you7 -
Found this on my university's webpage. The course this webpage belongs to is called 'Web Programming'16

So my teacher doesnt like us sharing code with eachother cause: "Y'all learn it better when you figure it out yourself."
FFS if ya dont figure it out yourself, you'll end up having learnt nothing. So I ended up uploading every library and exercise solution I wrote to a github repo and shared it with my classmates. Prolly gonna get into some trouble for dis if my teacher finds out. But I dont care. I've written it so I can do with it whatever I want!5 -
Yes I'm a developer who is programming in public, no that does not mean you can keep learning over and looking at my fucking screen9

We were in a c class learning about pointers, the teacher was doing small stars on the board to explain the basics of them.
After a short while we all understood, or so we taught.
Someone asked about double pointers, so the teacher put 2 stars on the board to explain. THEN THE IDIOT OF THE CLASS GOES AND BLOODY ASKS IF WE COULD REPLACE THE 2 STARS BY A BIG ONE.
I MEAN OF COURSE JUST PUT A STAR EMOJI TO MAKE A DOUBLE POINTER.
The legend still lives on as he got kicked for an unknown reason🤔.3 -
Damn. Maybe if I was more charismatic, I too could stop learning and just talk my way into a position with a bullshit title.
Maybe.9 -
its happening.
its finally being blown out of existence!!!!!!
Farewell flash, my old friend. you have no place in the web today14 -
In networking class today:
Student - "But this is just in theory, how does it work in practice?"
Lecturer - "In theory, theory and practice are the same thing."15 -
i kinda got fired because they have no more work for me and i think i have a new job already, i haven't even grieved yet lol4

Whenever something goes mainstream and becomes buzzword there are annoying consequences of it.
First, it’s harder to find anything meaningful about the topic.
Second, suddenly everyone is an expert and web search starts to show not related products like promo codes, stupid videos, tutorials for dumb.
Third, old content that was interesting is lost under pile of shit or gets deleted.
I feel like I’m living in middle ages and before I try to watch something interesting it’s deleted by Spanish inquisition and replaced by some crap.
Most of expert content I have in favorites is returning 404 and youtube videos are deleted or private so from some time I started to backup all content I read or watch and find interesting in public networks.
Fortunately I have couple of terabytes of storage to backup interesting topics but I’m not happy that I’m back to times when I was saving internet page to floppy disk to show it to my friend later.
What a fucking nightmare.3
