Ok, so I've been down voting a few rants that I knew were reposts. But is there a way for people to find out before they post if the rant has already been posted?
The newcomers may not know if it has been posted before and down voting may not be a great idea to welcome them. :-)

The first interview I attended as a fresh grad was with an MNC. The first round was the aptitude which I aced - came out at the top of the crowd. Next in the F2F, I was asked a simple question - How would you swap two variables? With and without using a third variable.
My mind went completely blank. These were the sort of questions you go prepared for. But don't know what happened to me that day, I faltered and literally begged him for another question, but he wasn't interested.
Well, I got a job in a better company later on, but still, such a simple question.......1 -
So, today I found an old pair of jeans which I had bought 10 years ago. To my surprise, it fits just fine even though I've added a little more than 2 inches to my waistline over the time.
Some things grow along with you. :-)

devRant = Developer Anonymous. For people who are addicted to coding - the best sort of addiction. :-D

Ok.. So I applied for a web dev position at a small-to-medium sized company. They had a telephonic round which they were happy with. They then sent out an assignment for me (A simple webapp to complete in 1hr). I did it and sent them the code. Finally, the face to face interview also went well.
At the end of it all, the HR comes back and tells me - "You did not use a MVC framework for the assignment and your code was not optimized for unit testing."
Me - "Ugh. (1) You did not have to call me for the face to face interview if you did not like my code. (2) You specified NOT to use any 3rd party libraries when doing the assignment. (3) You can tell people directly that you cannot afford them."4 -
People who think programming is just copy+paste, haven't programmed using COBOL, REXX or JCL (or similar "archaic" languages).
Best of luck finding all the answers on Google/SO. This is the world where RTFM is a daily task.

Falling sick on the weekend after a long week is probably the worst feeling ever.
I missed enjoying with cousins. I missed a 10k run I had signed up for. I missed coding.
Found devRant at the right time I guess - the only silver lining.
