@sodaTab sounds very cool! 😎 I think the same!
-
This is the truest truth I’ve read all week!
-
@Kidjenius no, and I would say good point unless I already knew that in many countries there are problems to even afford a computer and what system is on it will be up to whatever happens to be sold to the person (or in certain areas what is given such as in the raspberry pie projects (check sources such as the telegraph and northeastern.edu)).
Of course there are still rich people and a middle class even in developing countries, these might have Windows 10. But on the other hand the people that might really need it, might not. Look at sources such as The Borgen Project and other articles in the matter.
I still think this is a good initiative and I am sure there are still other things I’ve not thought about either. Also I think everyone appreciate the change from 1GB to 60MB either way, of course. -
Nouns!!! Too many nouns!
-
If it’s developed for developing countries then I’d think that it should cater for the OS mostly found in developing countries. Have you imagined releasing it for very old and/or power efficient OS such as would be more common in the 3rd world?
Developed countries generally do have access to >1GB of ram. I’m not saying it’s still a great initiative, but since you’re targeting windows 10 it’s still not going to aid a big portion of the developing world. -
4.5 out of 6, but gradually getting better at least.
-
@bahua nice distinction! I’m feeling like I survive very well without a DE, only using terminal (and now starting to use a bit of i3wm) so far. My computer feels so much more responsive too. It’s nice!
-
@linuxxx i3wm, just wow, I feel even more freed and enlightened by the minute as I dive right into the features of this fantastic program!
-
@Jilano haha thanks, sounds good, I’ll check them both out too!
-
@linuxxx I will check them out for sure!
-
@M1sf3t also very good advice, I’ll start to look more to the indications from the comments.
-
@OneOfSimpleMind also very good advice, that’s how I’m mostly trying to survive right now too.
-
@malu sounds cool, I’ll check it out!
-
Bumping since I too got interested. Which are you already listening to?
-
@AleCx04 Thank you! Also good advice.
But sometimes I believe that there's so many new nouns coming up with minimal actual reason. I'd say that I know a lot of concepts and at least over some handful of tools. But for each new tool (read noun) you often need to go from the beginning, just to confirm that your understanding of this new tool is correct and how to use it. Because of course without the new fashionable tools in your belt you are deprecated. Sometimes the tutorials needed to make sure what it is, how to use it etc. take much longer time to go through than I would've wished. Usually the tools is then revealed to be a collection of some concepts you already know with maybe one or two new ideas thrown in there. But also forcing you to write you phrases ever so slightly different. For me it feels like the market get overloaded with new information that has to be learned without a proper way to learn it (without re-hearing so much). -
@nitaj96a serveras different, but often visual studio. That's good for c++ and the like but not as good for angular and web development :p
-
It's an iPhone 5S, I guess it was facebook messenger that drained it :/
-
@Qchmqs hey that was actually not bad guesses 😂 but yeah I'll try to think it through and formulate it properly before saying any more. Perhaps get some sleep too 😛
-
@Zaphod65 yeah I don't really know exactly what I'm trying to say since it's just something I've been thinking about.
But imagine that our goal was to produce a program with a finitely long execution (e.g. send in something and expect a result in the end, so not a program that loops or takes user input etc.). Could it be done with only functional statements after another? -
I've read somewhere that to actually get better at something you have to learn new stuff. If you just repeat what you already know you won't grow. They probably have 10 years of *doing the same thing over again* experience. Or they just haven't ever heard of the beautiful world of git.
-
Some of the groupings makes little sense but I've used many of the languages and even tried out lambda-calculus. Only with pen/paper though, I think it's quite theoretical. C/C++/ASM and Haskell are quite nice though.
-
I think that the proper question would be why regular terminals doesn't. 😜

@nukaboy Hilarous! You just made me register just to upvote :P
