@cprn well, that is sort of my point. They dont know shit, but they just keep insisting on being right just the same.
-
@N00bPancakes yeah, we actually have been trying for a while not to tell this person too much, but he is very insistent on being told everything.
-
@h3rp1d3v it really depends. In this case, it was just a view for a generic for that was created and submitted by the user. It was plenty fast enough in react.
-
@AtuM haha, that would have been priceless!
-
@atheist haha, yeah, I probably should.
For me on an economic level, this along with covid and home-office with nothing else to do, this has been kind of a gold-mine. I have worked 14-16 hours almost every day since mid-January, including most weekends.
However, one can only do that for so long. I really need a vacation. -
@devphobe officially, I dont even work there any more. I started at another company this Christmas, but I am still doing some work for them.
There has been quite a few disagreements since I quit, so I only hear things from other devs in the company.
But your writeup is great , if it was before Christmas I would try to dig more into it, but at this point I try to pick my battles. -
@PaperTrail wow, that is just silly!
Yeah, sure, they wouldn’t know. I’m guessing they just don’t want developers getting used to having commercial software.
Perhaps I should tell them that developers don’t REALLY need JetBrains editors either, as there are free editors/IDEs out there, just to rattle the cage? -
@heyheni yeah, technically, you are right. It is more how this is done, and communicated. I think it is absurd to disallow the use of GitKraken. If developer are using it, I don’t really see the harm to the company.
Note that the company is not telling us to use product x for git-things at all, it is simply not allowed GitKraken, even though some devs are using it. -
@stop yeah, I think there will be some more attempts like this the coming week. At the moment, we are a bit flabbergasted.
Oh well, integration-testing are a bit easier when access-tokens are simply '1=1-- -
@ars1 yup, just launched.
-
@magicMirror nope, this is sadly real. Some new guy managed to convince management that the old service was shit and that he could rewrite all the functionality in no time.
All other devs are bashing it, but management is convinced that we are just jealous because the service is so much faster (which it isn't).
We have shown at different occations how easy it is to «hack» into the service. The creator say that is OK since it is not finished. But then they launched the service without fixing any of it.
