!rant!
I have replaced a dev in a company where the project already started and it is shit! The project is directed already to fail, no requirements documentation, no proper communications, and a stubborn dev teammate.
aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
All the documents that we have right now is I am the one who created it. Like c'mmon! this project is already going for 1 year and I recently just joined the team!4 -
Me: LOL Docker Desktop asking to update all the time! I'm fine.
-moments later after a reboot-
Also Me: Why is docker always starting up so wonky these days ....
Probably should update I guess ;) -
so I have a junior who merged in a fix for an issue yesterday, and it was tested today and there was an issue with his "fix".
so he comes to me and says "hey this is an issue" and i'm like "yeah, remember i told you about that yesterday when i tested your changes? why did it get merged?"
so i tell him "its because of <reason> and that's why i specified the approach that i did in the ticket originally"
so he's like "ok i'll try that" and before doing that i leave him with "you will probably want to do <thing> because of <reason> with that approach"
so fast forward to like 10 mins ago. literally half the fucking day has gone by.
"hey, so i can't get this to work"
"yeah its because <reason> but what you /can/ do is <same fucking thing i told him to do this morning>"
"oh ok, ill give that a shot :thumbsup: "
and yet he's had this chip on his shoulder since reviews because he feels like he should have gotten a bigger raise and he's worth more than he's paid. and wonders why after 3 years he still hasn't been promoted from a junior.
and don't fucking say 'that's above my pay grade' all the time like you aren't fairly compensated, and then struggle to employ the same fucking patterns in a code base you've worked with for 3 years now.4 -
May have asked this before but couldn't get an answer from any of the "experts" at my company so...
How do you store/pass in db login and certs for testing/debugging from your own machine?
I'm using Java Spring and the way I'm thinking of is to override the application.yaml, in the Debug configs, to point to one that has the credentials but only shared within the team?11 -
In Morning: Let's remove this bug.
*after some time*
"Ok!!! I would solve this at night time."
Night: leave it! Let's work on another project. -

How many jobs do you see asking by Android Compose. I'm very exciting studying it and I believe that is a good way to get a job from out my country (BR)1

Companies really need to re-evaluate what they ask as security questions.
If I know your name and your approximate date of birth (to the month) then, here in the UK at least, I have a very good chance of being able to find out your parents names, your mother's maiden name, your address, your parents address (i.e. probably where you grew up and what school you went to), your parents ages, when they got married, etc. - and all from publicly available info, not illegal crap you find on Tor or social media stalking.
This isn't hard to find if you know where to look - the problem is that people think that it's all private, and behave as such - and companies encourage it. The typical "internet safety courses" don't even touch on it, and even more tech savvy people I know often don't have a clue this is possible.2 -
Does anyone happen to know of some good resources for securing a flask app? I'm writing my first flask app on a development host and just like crabs to pubes, I've got bots attacking it already.
I'm working on fail2ban now and I'm reading up on options listed here: https://pythonhosted.org/Flask-Secu...
thank you in advance for your help or expertise with Flask/Security!! -
I don't fucking get it why people find it normal to have a zoom meeting run in background for the whole working hours.
Like WTF11 -
Ooh man, I'm so fucking pissed with these shit MBA fucks who think they know everything about everything about everything but can't even tell the difference between pastry and shit until they dig their mouth into it.
Dick heads want to micromanage me to a point where I don't even have to think.
*Make the button green.*
But that does not follow any design principles.
*We have business research which says so*
What.
Such bullshit, I don't even wanna argue anymore. But man, it's so tough to make something which goes against every principle of what you have ever learnt. I mean, I'm coding it, and my brain refuses to help because the idea is soo bad. God I'm soo frustrated.5 -
Me at promotion interview (modtly a formality) last year
Q: why do you want to be promoted?
Me: so that when I say something, people (team mates) will take me more seriously
Now: either nothing has changed or I'm getting ignored even more6 -
Fuck Android Studio updates. Why you morons call it a "STABLE" update when its clearly not? -_-
You guys ruined the layout editor -_- But you guys also left no way to use the older version nowadays.
Fuck you Google!!!
FUCK!!!6 -
Question for those that worked alone with a project manager, and were you covered multiple parts, frontend, backend, mobile and you basically have good friendship with the project owner/manager but the job got bored or wanted to switch jobs because you wanted to change environment.
What was the period you informed your employer/project manager in advance about your resignation and leaving? 2 weeks, a month? more? And was it enough time for the manager to find replacement? Did you leave in good terms?3 -
ok. been going full steam since December with 1 day off since. managing teams, review designs, designing, prototyping, code reviewing, mentoring, and doing project. management. i get that it's a "flat" org structure but hire proper PMs and BAs instead of trying to pinch pennies. all the while, i see marketing with deeeeeeep pockets spending money on anything like mommy and daddy are funding their spring break getaway. i need time to disconnect and recharge my spirit.2

Fuck you edge cases! This task was supposed to be a breeze and thanks to you it’s turning into a nightmare 🤯2

They couldn't find tables there.5 -
What is your biggest embarrassing regret in your career?
I will go first. I regret than those day I don't understand OOP and Bull-shiting around. -
hello fellas, and read this post carefully and full.
i hate u if you use windows or osx. I'm a proud arch user. many of u people can't even install it. and i use emacs which is the best editor ever. anyone who uses anything else is an idiot, (not a real programmer). the tools you selected along the way defines who you are inside. people today learn programming from python and scratch, these people are homos. true programmer learns c or lisp, which are true programming languages. if you have courage use only arch linux, better compile it yourself, this will transcend you into becoming a real progammer. don't just any distro and be a faker. and remember to teach your children that python is what faggots use.
we need to make world a better place, please take the responsibility. this is my humble request, ++ it so more people can listen to my msg., and be awaken.45 -
MySejahtera is not a good appliaction at all! They just use Sqlite or Shared Preferences in the app for keeping the data local. (Just local?) As soon as you clear cache or data, The user no longer exist! Like wtf ?
So I decompile the app and review the source code, the code is not even properly obfuscated(That's why I can read it). There's a part of the code on a for loop went
```
for (int i = 3; i < array.length(); i++)
{
for (int j = 2; i > array.length() *2; j ++ )
{
onScan();
}
}
```
Which is unacceptable!
First , why nested for loops?
Second, instead of declare 'array.length()' multiple times why not declared it global for once?
No wonder the initial state of the app is buggy as hell.8 -
Just spent several hours trying to figure out why a binary file wasn’t being written correctly.
I missed a break statement.
Also it’s been a while since I’ve been here, maybe I’ll actually come back. -
So in Ruby, everything is passed to functions by value. However, when you manipulate objects, you're actually manipulating references. A simple example:
```
a = [3]
b = a
c = a
b.push(2)
print a
print b
print c
# => [3, 2][3, 2][3, 2]
```
Here's a more complicated example from the problem I was solving:
```
table = Array.new(5) { Array.new() }
1.upto(5 - 1) do |i|
1.upto(5 - 1) do |j|
table[i] = table[j]
end
table[i] << rand(1..6)
end
```
I have been running around in circles this morning because I forgot that. This makes C++ for example, more clear than Ruby since C++ explicitly shows the intent to the programmer.5 -
