As software developers, we all drop the ball sometimes. Shit, I did this recently and I'm not proud of it.
But what made the difference was that the gent I was doing the thing for didn't exacerbate my fuck up. Dialogue remained cool. Whats more, I am keen to make up for dropping the ball so will be there when other things need to be done.
I'd say put this one down to a fuck up. And leave room in interactions so he can make up for the mess. -
This reply is part of how this works.

@GyroGearloose dude that looks fuckin amazing. Do you have a video of it running?

@ElbowDeepInElmo, something to think about. Imagine you are personally responsible for being 3 weeks late on a delivery at the new company. Would you be more anxious than if you were in the same state with your existing employer?

Just learnt something! Thank you gents.

It's pretty damn stable for the python maintenance I have to do. The most complex thing I do is run an automated WebKit engine in WSL.

Number 1 programming bad habit is paying too much attention to other people's claims about programming.

as soon as you get the inclination to do regex/replace things in SQL...write a script.

My mentor discovered a therapy particularly useful for dealing with the foolishness of punters ->extra fees!!
Cost is a bloody good deterrent for bad ideas that visit customers in the depth of the night and want to make their programmers follow. -
Using OOP in some cases is a bit like this...overkill.
-
Dude. Crying.
-
Does what junior engineer does but for less money.

I'm continuously heading for burnout.
But what I think keeps from flaming out is that my work is meaningful. Not just commercially - but to the people I work for and their customers.
Perhaps the answer is not fewer hours in general. But fewer hours of work of less meaningful work. -

...most people have a hard time of some description when they are touching themselves.

@CtrlAltElite depends on which liquid we're talkin here..
-
Dude. You’re good. She was just asking what time is best to talk.
I don’t think she wanted to get into details without giving you a chance to prepare.
If part of did not want to have a chat at 11pm that’s ok. -
this is utter bollocks.
-
Oops, didn't mean to hit your server with a couple hundred requests a minute.
-
@uuid I'd throw in some try/catch blocks in there for good measure too!
-
never cut and paste...unless its your own code.
-
Good friends, when you find them are well beyond any measuring metric we can conceive.
-
You're fortunate I am not one of your users. I would have made it my business to be a nuisance to you this long & sunny weekend.

wait === not-critical-enough

No good stories. But by default PHP cronjobs especially on CPanel enter production broken until the customer calls to ask why xxx file was not updated this morning.
