Somebody asked me my API doc.
I don't have any API at all.
I will lie, and I'll write a swagger specification in few hours and I'll send them.
They will try to read it and understand, and after maybe a week, when they will ask for testing and endpoint I'll pretend to be on holiday for 2 weeks.
3-4 weeks gone already, I checked they should be on holiday by then. Only then, I'll answer with a fake endpoint with fake data.
I'll get another 2 weeks if I'm lucky.
When they discover about fake data, I'll say there is a bug.
In total if I play well, I have 2/2.5 months to implement some kind of API server with some more or less true implementation.
Thanks to Swagger. Swag11 -
For Windows driver update, found a great (open source) tool to update or install missing drivers.
https://sdi-tool.org/
My dell laptop (Windows 10) screen used to go blank or some bubble used to appear may times a day. Used Dell driver update tool, no update, says all driver up to date.
Then used Snappy Driver Installer tool, which detected my laptop details correctly.
Then it showed that my display driver was almost a year old and there were couple of updates, latest being just last month. In addition to that, there were 30+ updates on disk drivers, networking, sensors, bluetooth, audio etc.
First updated my display driver, upon success, slowly updated the rest of it. Now, the system worked entire day without any issue. Also, my laptop fan used to run full speed seems to have slowed down.
Also, my external monitor clarity has improved.
ps: worked for me, but be careful. Check it thoroughly before updating, update only those drivers which are giving trouble and there are no updated drivers available from windows or manufacturers.8 -
If Gordon Ramsay made code reviews, I would watch that show. Especially the insults he would use for handling clients.
"This code has so much spaghetti, it decided to open it's own restaurant"23 -
after doing all the paperwork and packing his shit, he shaked hands with his now ex-boss, and with a smile, and after their hands are no longer touching, he told him with a really calm voice to go fuck himself.1

*code doesn't work*
-Run three times, just to be sure
-Its NOT the code, must be the project. Full rebuild.
-Run a few more times after rebuild didn't fix it.
-Google the issue.
-Stackoverflow must be wrong. The code is JUST like their solution.
-Run a few more times, but with your lucky underpants
-Reboot. Must be an operating system thing.
-Tea break. Give the issue time and it will fix itself.
-Run a few more times. Still unfixed
-Contact customer support.
-Walmart said they can't help.
-Consider writing your own language without this OBVIOUS flaw
-Kickstarter for c++++
-Raise $50,000
-Start a family
-Contact customer support again
-Run a few more times
-Now banned from Walmart
-Oh shit, missing a semicolon24 -
A friend of mine and I decided we wanted to fork linux and port it to C++.
Sounds crazy yea, but there are many benefits:
1) More secure due to ability to use references
2) More sustainable due to the extensive standard lib
Not only would we port linux to C++, we would improve it as far as possible.
So now for the part of the rant where I misuse devRant as an advertizement platform. to those interested in helping, here is the poll where you can get included into the mailing list:
