Is that an old style Casio fx991ES?
-
Is that an attempt to keep intellisense from suggesting everything in the System namespace?
Nice to see String getting some usage though. LOL -
@SortOfTested plumuml?
-
Agreed. As for why? I think lots of things will become blockchained and then someone will point out how much energy is being used / CO2 is being released by all those mining processors and the whole thing will be eco-warriored away.
(I appreciate "blockchain" doesn't imply decentralised, but I think that's what people mean most of the time.) -
@StopWastingTime Wasn’t trying to be cool at all. Just interviewed enough people who claim to have particular development experience but clearly don’t. I’m actually an encouraging interviewer who is often given the more timid candidates because of my ability to get the best out of them, but I guess you’re just going to say that’s me being “egoistic”. How were you trying to come across?
-
Dates and times are always a PITA, and time zones just add to the misery.
-
@AlmondSauce I think it depends what you consider choking. Not knowing something or forgetting something is totally understandable and expected. I was referring more to people pretending they know something and then coming unstuck at the follow up questions.
-
@vintprox That’s a fair point, I’ve just not seen that.
-
I like the transient venting nature of devRant the way it is.
-
That’s British/Irish style not American style.

If you just want a simple site that you can easily expand a bit, maybe do a Jekyll on github.io site to start with. Super easy to get started and the basic templates, pages and posts will be easy enough to extract into some other framework later if you decide you need something more serious.
Focus on content and style rather than architecture if time is short. -
Sometimes temptation gets the better of me, but then the compiler/IDE gives me warnings so I delete them again.

One of my colleagues has been honouring his memory for the last 6 years

Any Blazor?

Can’t help with the syntax, but rubberduckvba takes the edge off the pain.
-
Another thing that I’ve seen cause this is having a side effect in a property read.
-
@gathurian LOL! I clicked into the post for exactly that reason.
-
Quince. You heard it here first.
-
Pour 40% of the bottle into a big glass and it should be obvious that the glass contains clear pure alcohol and the bottle is now just brown whisky juice.
-
@TitanLannister It starts off that way, and from memory it always gives the history along with the development. Stick with it. I’ve not tried building my own memory out of transistors yet, but it’s on the list! Hope you enjoy it.

I recently watched and quite enjoyed the Crash Course Computer Science on YouTube. It might appear like it’s aimed at kids maybe, but it’s quite a good explanation in my opinion.

@irene No

@ScriptCoded I’m not backendy enough to give an informed view on that. Hopefully someone else can chip in on this thread.
-
What you’ve suggested is fine in my opinion (I’m not a git-god though).
The only issue would be that if his feature was reverted then yours would break (I’m assuming), so if his change is only required because of your feature I’d be tempted to let him commit to your feature branch and then merge to master as a single feature. But if his change is needed regardless of your feature then I’d do as two features.
Hope this helps. -
@irene Reprogramming the entire codebase into C# is underway, but legacy code is still important unfortunately.

@ftyross VBA

Not to mention gigabytes

@JohanO Never seen @devTea’s avatar? #babe #would #love #notjoking

Welcome! The only rule of devRant is that if you use Arch Linux you’re not allowed to tell anyone and have to say you use Windows 10 instead.
