Congrats on that! Good story
-
Don’t kick yourself, at least you didn’t break anything. My guarantee to employers is this and only this: after I’m done, it will only be as broken as it was when I got it— no more, but hopefully less.

I hope they have their database backup in the repo too for easy restore

@kescherRant I came here to say this... table cell is the best thing ever. It’s like a table... but somehow it’s ok
-
It would alternately be cool if it just let us specify the specificity score it trumps.
!specific: 1201 -
@irene still don’t know what the avz means in ‘rsync -avz’ but I make sure to type it every time
-
I always just use the naming conventions that everyone else at the company does

Luckily I’ve specifically grown my belly out for this. One day I won’t need the legs

This is exactly why I’m always last to leave my office

I say avoid any sequential ids for urls that you can simply because scripted bots will just run through them like a cat pulling the sheets off a toilet paper roll. If nothing else use some alphanumeric reversible symmetric hash if you don’t want the length of a true uuid. Look at YouTube at their v= url segment and you can see the mileage you can get with something like that. Also you don’t want to give up that kind of insider business stats like how many users you have, number of pages or the number of comments (ie engagement) you have relative to that number.

@DubbaThony ha! Yeah I’ve built my own framework a couple times now. It is absolutely a great idea and recommended for anyone who has the chance. It’s really the main time you get to actually try to dig into existing frameworks!

Bless his wholesome heart

Fun fact: take the atm home with you for extra convenience

@DubbaThony just give us the link already

Have a ++ for the my new favorite word 'Shittari'

Ah sorry, the reason is that it is bad for the trees. Someone posted a picture of there friend leaning against one of the trees and the signs all say don't touch the trees. You can see the bark has worn off of these trees that are hundreds of years old. It's a minor rant.

@Nanos ah damn, my door privilege is showing!
-
Adding a space after a comma is not exclusive to English
-
@Nanos if only most of the doors I see in stores and business buildings were like that... most of them have handles on both sides to keep people from contacting the door directly, at least where I’m at
-
@vane maybe not a good environment for someone who actually has an addiction problem
-
@cprn i know you are right... it just sucks. You can't even get any supported packages for php 5.4 anymore, but you still gotta learn 5.3 if you wanna get that first php job
-
Here's a tip: always pull on an unknown orientation door. You avoid the embarrassment of trying to push on a pull door and having to back up!
-
Yearly fee? Sounds like a solid customer facing business plan.

I’ll have a Sam Adams

“Utility” namespace, lol

Really any unencrypted hard drive is unsecured. I guess having that reality shoved in your face with the easy root shell access is the kicker huh

I love it when someone writes “google is your friend” in an answer that is the first search result on google.

@irene I have a bank that requires me to enter my birthday every time I log in for extra security. I have no clue what that is supposed to accomplish.
