@irene it would be great if the rules were perfectly clear, but I'm not sure it's possible.
There was lots of room for interpretation in the previous Code of Conflict too. That's why you need a board. Human interactions are messy. -
@kenogo ok, I read up on it and I agree that it would be silly to ban him for what he wrote. I very much doubt that will happen though.
These discussions are hard, no doubt. I just don't think that means we should not be having them at all. -
@kenogo How the CoC should be interpreted and enforced is a much more productive discussion to be had, but it won't be possible until people stop screaming murder.
EDIT: Without knowing the specifics of the case, I agree that banning someone should be a measure of last resort for the most extreme cases and not be used lightly -
@irene sure, but that's a different issue. I just want to encourage everyone to actually read the CoC and come to their own conclusions /discuss based on that rather than based on the interpretation of the CoC in an article

Yeah your code will return undefined implitly since you are not returning anything. The return value is compared exactly (===) to false here, so undefined will not stop the form from submitting (the default behavior).
The more modern way to handle it would be to take the event as an input in your validator function and then call event.preventDefault() if the input is not valid. -
So anyone want to show me the part of the new CoC that is 'against white men'? It's really short, so shouldn't be too hard to find it: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/...

At any rate I don't disagree with the idea that there is some value in people feeling comfortable making jokes. I just think people not having to worry about being made the but of those jokes in a way that makes THEM uncomfortable has at least the same value

@QuanticoCEO if you don't want people to think you're critizising them because of them being part of a minority then start by stopping to refer to the fact they are part of a minority as part of your criticism. You can't call someone a tranny bitch and then claim the fact they are trans has nothing to do with your criticism
-
How can repeatedly refer to someone with the word tranny (used as an insult) yet claim there's no problem to be addressed is truly baffling to me.
