I switched to vscode but np++ will always have a place in my heart.

In our uni you could just apply to be a assistant teacher/lab teacher. I wasn't actually top of the class but I realized that I learned a lot more by teaching it to others. I struggled with recursion until I was asked to explain it to other students. You could suggest something like that if your kid is bored. In addition to helping me learn, it made me a lot better at communicating with peers and understanding alternative approaches to problem solving.

IRL: Go to game jams or hackathons, it's nice to learn and test stuff out in a team setting, and participants are motivated to make things together.
Online: reddit as others suggested, but also there might be a Discord for what you're interested in, such as https://www.reactiflux.com/

Having a kit as a learning tool might be better than doing everything from scratch right away. Those kits and their guides are made so that you can learn step by step in, and so that there's a reward at the end of each task :)

@-ANGRY-STUDENT- I don't think you are expected to know the history of the company, but it's reasonable to expect you to have looked at what the company does.

I mean - if its a consulting firm, the technologies involved and the general field that the company gets customers from might be enough. But if you're applying for a job in a start up company that produces assistant robots they will likely a) want you to have understood the pros/cons of working in a start up and b) be passionate about the future of robotics.

I'd be more worried if it guaranteed uniqueness tbh :)
